Hi so i have been holding onto a domain name for a while its called forevergamer.com how much do you think I could get for it? If I can sell it for just over its registration value i would be relatively happy or is it worth absolutely nothing.

as it has no brand value I'm going to suspect that it's worth exactly what a new registration is going to cost

As much as someone is willing to pay for it :p

Potentially quite a lot. I recently inquired about another domain name from a US firm. Much more obscure that this and they wanted USD25K. But yes It is only worth what someone is willing to pay. My suggestions is to advertise or do something with the site to gnerate traffic and get attention

Hmm... what someone wants and what it's worth are different things. When something is sentimental we always tie more value to it than a disinterested person would.

In the case of the OP it is quite a unique and interesting name but not on the level of cars.com or games.com or such. If I had a purpose for it and it fit the image I was seeing I would take it for slightly more than the total investment. Perhaps look to advertising it for a U.S. audience.

Just because they demanded that doesn't mean anyone would pay it.

Without a website your domain name has absolutely no monetary value, except for probably its registration fee only.

If you want to add some monetary value to your domain, do something with it. Build and promote a website and grow its traffic. Monetize it and attempt to start generating some sort of income. Then only will you be able to get more than its registration fee.

As for the domain name itself, personally I would not want it free.

I wouldn't put it like that. If it's popular it would be worth quite a lot with or without an active website. This particular domain though, your last line seems to be the general sentiment.
