Hi Guys,
So i got this game yesterday, after waiting longer than a year for its release, i am a big sports fanatic and its basically the only games i play. The last cricket game we had was Cricket 2010 which i enjoyed, my fav stays Brain Lara.
In anycase, i have to say im quite disappointed in Don Bradman Cricket, it has lots of features and tournaments no other game has had, it even has a Career mode which is awesome, but when it comes to the actual game play, well It sucks, Unlike the older cricket games there is no way of selecting where to pitch the ball when bowling, spinning is a technique i have no idea of doing, it took my almost 30minutes yesterday just to figure out how to bowl, and its still confusing as hell.
When it comes to batting, you have absolutely no idea where the ball is going to pitch, but you have to select a frontfood shot or a back foot shot and the direction, you also have much less control of the batting than the previous cricket games, when hitting the ball you have to wait for the camera to turn for you to see if there is a fielder..... even the fielding is complicated.
What was your experience of the game?

I've only played a cricket simulation game and that sucked...

Hmmmm

Interesting comments. I havent tried the full game yet, im waiting for the pc version. I did try the demo on the pc a while back and u could definitely bat with a great degree of control.

I stopped playing cricket games when the gaming model didn't change for 15 years.
Nothing new at all for years.
And once you figure them out then it's so easy it's just a joke.
Scoring 1000 runs in a 50 over match was simple.

i have the Xbox version.
Sure you can select what shot you want to play, problem is you have no idea where the ball is going to pitch, you have less than half a second to decide if its a backfoot or frontfoot shot, after you have decided that, you have to decide if you are going to play straight, leg side or the offside, and if you are even going play your shot, its very frustrating. Every other cricket game gave you an idea where the ball will pitch.
Fark knows how the blowing works, seems like there is one line with the only variation if is a in swinger, out swinger, cutter or yorker, but you cannot select where to pitch it.
And spinning, you have to press right circle for type of delivery, then spin it anticlockwise twice while selecting direction simultaneously with left circle and checking that stupid green meter, i have yet to deliver a single good delivery.

I did read about the spinning thing being difficult. Guess they wanted to make it as intuitive as possible. So not even on the easy settings do u see the bowl will land?

Maybe on easy, i remember on Brain Lara, on the hardest difficulty they reverse swing and pitch the ball all over the place, Shane Warne almost spinning that ball 90 degrees... the deliveries are also much faster, that was actually challenging while not impossible.

Nope, you have absolutely no idea, only when the ball pitches.

I suck at no sport game , simply not getting the hang of this specific one... :p

Bleh, sounds like u suck :D

When i tried the demo i couldnt hit a single ball. After 10 sessions i was smacking it on the highest difficulty level. Just keep at it.

I have the ps3 version and have been playing it for a couple of days now and have to admit my view is the complete opposite of the original poster. I take about 5-6 wickets per game with spin bowling and when batting you can change settings to put a marker on the ball to help when batting if you really struggle. That being said part of not knowing where the ball is going to land makes the game more realistic and enjoyable. If you knew every ball where it is going to be how will you enjoy the game? Every game you will end up making 1000 runs in 50 overs like the one previous poster said.... But thats just my view. If your struggling with the controls or have questions go to http://www.planetcricket.net/forums/don-bradman-cricket-14-forum/ you can find all the questions etc on there to help you.

Im gonna give it a try again tonight.
You are playing on PC though, dont have stupid analog sticks to spin to hell know where....

Also played Ashes Cricket 2013 on PC, what a terrible game, got pulled from the shelves just after its release.
Don't know why they don't take 2013, and just fix all the bugs and flaws and release it again, at least its similar to 2010.
