Don Bradman Cricket

the wait continues.

At the least the Ashes had the players real names.

Jonah Lomu Rugby challange 2, one evening i renamed all SA teams in Super15, just to get bored after playing the tournament halfway. Took bloody ages!!
But i think it will be much faster with cricket.

Yep, OP is just bad at all things sports related it sounds and everything else by the looks of things :)

Go to planetcricket forums if you want to know more about this game. Looks like it is pretty awesome. I also played the demo and sucked in the beginning, but like real cricket you get used to not knowing where the ball is going to land. Could not bowl on demo, but from what i have read once you get the hang of it, it is very rewarding.

Thanks goodness I came across this thread, really considering picking this up on PS3.
From what I've heard, they have a community section that allows importing or applying community driven content which others have made all the correct teams/liveries/names/kit/etc.

Do they use real players names in the game? My son has been waiting for ages for new cricket game on the PS3 but made up names like Allyn Fonald and Jakes Callus just sucks and spoils the immersion factor.

If your son has been waiting for a cricket game than this is an awesome game to look into buying.

The game has a built in feature called cricket academy. When you first insert the game it will ask if you would like to download the latest and highest rated squads and all the names and faces are legit.

I still don't understand why Kinect has not been utilized in a sport game yet.
Well real sport game.

That is good news!

Thanks - will definitely go check it out

:D

Loved my cricket games!
Started out with Ian bothams cricket on my cousins pc :

We discovered a glitch whereby you field the ball, then run to the boundary ropes and throw the ball, the batsmen would take a single and the ball will always hit the wickets lol

Then moved over to the slighty more impressive Shane Warne Cricket
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXVaUcKDXHY

and then on to Brian Lara's cricket 2010.

In Ian Botham I figured out a specific gully fielder to take snick catches off swing bowling.
I could generally get most teams out for under 5 runs.

Thanks buddeh, you've just upped my reasoning for getting it, still pondering though. End of the day, it really is a lot of money for a non-AAA title (if that makes sense). I mean Big Ant Studios aren't exactly synonymous . But it looks solid and most comments here are positive.

Thanks again again.

Grab the pc demo. If u like cricket games u will like this

The boys were using the PC demo for batting practice in anticipation of the xbox release :) Got this on release day and according to them, the best cricket game yet (and they've played them all). Yes there are a few bugs , but hopefully that gets sorted out quickly. Multiplayer seems a blast. They haven't started career mode yet, so can't comment there. AI fielding seems like having 9 Pontings there, they rarely miss runouts, so beware when running between the wickets. The planetcricket link posted previously will also help. Bowling wise I prefer them using pace bowling, spinning will really wear out the controllers :)

Downloaded the beta last night and was practicing in the nets, oh man I was struggling with my coordination with the 2 joysticks when batting :P but ya this is the first time I think I ever use a controller, but I do like it like this, gives you more control in a sense, so now just to wait for the pc release :(

Honestly cricket 07 is still great, yeah the squads are out-of-date(I am playing with guys like pollock and gibbs) but the gameplay is solid and the AI are friggin great. You guys should try it cos it also supports 2-player gameplay.

Got the game and I'm quite happy. Earlier questions about player names, the game has the option to download the real names of players and teams, I now have the 6 SA domestic teams just by updating. It didn't use a ton of data either over 3g. The career mode is brilliant, however, I'm struggling to get both meters into the green zone when bowling. Does anyone know how to get the jump and release meter into the green zone?

Hi Guys,
So i got this game yesterday, after waiting longer than a year for its release, i am a big sports fanatic and its basically the only games i play. The last cricket game we had was Cricket 2010 which i enjoyed, my fav stays Brain Lara.
In anycase, i have to say im quite disappointed in Don Bradman Cricket, it has lots of features and tournaments no other game has had, it even has a Career mode which is awesome, but when it comes to the actual game play, well It sucks, Unlike the older cricket games there is no way of selecting where to pitch the ball when bowling, spinning is a technique i have no idea of doing, it took my almost 30minutes yesterday just to figure out how to bowl, and its still confusing as hell.
When it comes to batting, you have absolutely no idea where the ball is going to pitch, but you have to select a frontfood shot or a back foot shot and the direction, you also have much less control of the batting than the previous cricket games, when hitting the ball you have to wait for the camera to turn for you to see if there is a fielder..... even the fielding is complicated.
What was your experience of the game?

Each and everything you complain about is the reason I never played cricket games :D. What is the use of seeing where the ball is going to picth prior to run up? You select your shot even while he's still doing his run-up... Shoul dbe like real cricket, you select, full, lenght or short and the line is up to the control of the bolwer. Simple as that.

I do appreciate the warning though. Will give it a spin first before I buy it for th Playstation

Well for cricket games, and I've played all of them, this is certainly up there. As for realism, you can't score 1000 as a team total anymore and the game has hidden gems, such as batting through the batsman's eyes, the customised commentating of a player you create that matches his surname as well as abilities that you use when creating a player for the career mode. The opening poster mentioned that when hitting a ball, the screen takes quite long to show you where each fielder is but before each delivery, you hold down L2 and you can physically look around to see where the fielders are; just like in real cricket. If you know there's no one at point, you can hit the ball there and run without problems. You also have more control of where you want to hit the ball so you can place it between fielders.
