Donating Blood

I used to donate at school and am trying at uni, but schedule + test times mean I can't afford to go donate ( feeling a little low + test = bad test )

I donated once while I was in school. A certain question put me off donating blood again.

did they ask you if you wanted a cookie?

I lol'd :p

oclerouxenator, they meant a biscuit ... not a bosmossel. :D (but yeah, I know what you're on about. It's a bit of a dick move on their behalf)

I donated at school, despite my low BP. They screwed up my veins by plugging through it into my muscles then scraped the needle back to get a better angle when my vein collapsed ... twice!

Haven't been back, even though like Chilligirl, my blood is generic.

I hate needles but went to donate twice at varsity. Everything seems fine and then in the process my bloodpressure plummets and the tannies start to worry and I am cancelled for a couple of hours. They do bring me lots of cookies and coke then though.

LOLZ @ bosmossel! hahahaha.

The wording that they used in that question though....I still "gril" when I think about it. To see that word used on a official form made me want to vomit! Anyways...enough about that.

The rest of you...if you can donate blood please. My mom needed a couple of units of blood when we were in a car accident. It really does save lives.

I was so thin as a child and when they stuck needles in me for my monthly penicillin injection the needle went right through me and stabbed the next patient behind me.

They've refused me before because they realized that I'm writing exam the next day.

@Gdiza - until you donate this thread makes you a bit of a hypocrite! :-P

Went to donate blood once. Something happened with the needle. When you hear the nurse mutter "oh s***", you know it can't be good. Took two of them about 10 minutes to get the needle out. After which they still had the audacity to ask "would you like to try the other arm?". I was just thinking "lady, just give me my cookie & juice and let me get the **** out of here". Not had the courage to go back again.

Any MyBB guys want to get together and do a mass "blood donation drive" at some point in the future?

Ok, hands up - if I asked RPM to help in pushing a 'blood donation drive' from it's members in certain areas - do you guys think you'd be keen to join me?

So X amount from CPT goto a blood bank in CPT
X amount in PTA/JHB goto a blood bank in PTA/JHB

All done on a certain day ?

Come on, what you guys say...

I've never donated blood - I'm KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAK scared but I promised to change that this year - whose keen to join me on this...

I donate fairly regularly, but would happily take part in this if possible, either in PTA or JHB. Due again after the 17th. Have donated around 70 units.

I am having a problem with the drugs part, promised I would not take this year but I cracked last night:cry:

I religiously donate every 8 weeks. I am happy to get involved with any blood drive. Would just need to check when I can give again.

me too...plus I pass out when blood is removed from me...

edit
People who have ever injected themselves with drugs.

Not done that.

Your blood pressure will also be measured, to ensure you are fit to donate.

I have high blood pressure too.

I was donating 6 or 7 times a year. Right up to the point my heart attacked me just a little...
Filling in the forms always made me feel my life was really, really boring... No unprotected sex with multiple partners, no sharing needles to do drugs, no tattoos... ;)

I've donated about 50 units... Mostly when I still worked at Sasol - they had a clinic onsite and they used to call you like clockwork every 56 days!

I would never stick a needle in myself just umm sniffed some good stuff:whistle: Drugs are stupid but I got offered for free, never buy stuff.
