My kids school is doing a blood drive so I'll be donating in the next week (assuming they let foreigners donate).

BTW - if it wasn't such an important cause I'd have sicked the grammar nazis on you. :p
 
I received this from the WP Blood Transfusion Service;

Dear Nick,

Thank you for contacting the WP Blood Transfusion Service. We are very glad you decided to join this great cause! We have two fixed sites which is open on weekends. One is in the CBD and the other is in the Northern Suburbs. Clinic details are as follows:

1. Venue : 22 Long Street, Cape Town

Time : Monday – Friday 08:30 – 15:45 • Saturday 08:30 – 11:30 • Sunday & Public Holiday’s CLOSED

2. Venue : N1 City (Shop 40B – Close to Checkers), Goodwood

Time : Monday – Friday 10:00 – 17:45 • Saturday 09:00 – 14:45 • Sunday & Public Holiday’s 09:00 – 11:45

For alternative clinic details, you are more than welcome to visit our website at http://www.wpblood.org.za/index.php?q=page/where-can-i-donate.

You can bring your ID along with you. Upon arrival at the clinic, please inform our staff that you are a new blood donor. Please remember to eat within four hours of donating blood and drink lots of fluids, i.e. water and juice.

I used to donate blood but no more. Some egit turned me into a pin cushion (4 pokes) because they could not get the vein and I have a thing for needles as it is.

Dude... I have the same probably... I'm KAAAAAAAAAAK scared but I am so going to do it!!!
 
If there is no reason for not donating other than your fear please make the effort and try!! I used to be able to do so but now because of medications I use cannot, the medical problems that caused the need for the meds had the doctors using over R30K worth of blood during surgery. By donating your blood you help others survive.

I donated many times prior to the incident I mentioned above but if you can't get it right the first time then I can't be bothered contributing further.
