Donations could cost BEE points

Johannesburg - A Pretoria orphanage says it is no longer getting financial support from large companies as 70% of the children in its care are white.

Elzane van der Merwe of the Jacaranda children’s home said: “The only answer that the children’s home is getting is: ‘Sorry, you don’t meet the criteria for 100% black economic empowerment (BEE),” reported Beeld.

But Van der Merwe said the children’s home couldn’t choose which children to take in.

“To us a child is a child. We don’t discriminate. Here we have 250 children between 18 months and 18 years that need care, regardless of race or gender.”

She said that even though the department of trade and industry had withdrawn the new suggested BEE codes, welfare organisations countrywide were still affected.

The suggested codes award points to companies for their BEE programmes and donations.

She said their income had dropped drastically due to the BEE codes, even though there was an increase in the children that needed care.

The home only looks after children placed in its care by court order.

I'm gad to see the usual ANC supporters in this thread trying to justify this

I'd say the companies changing their policies in the basis of acts which haven't even been approved yet are the biggest morons. It either that or they intentionally made the changes out of spite.

:erm: where? I don't see anybody trying to justify this

Of course not. And sadly you never will. This is the problem with with the new order. This is soooo sad. Of course it is racist but not even that is important now. How on earth will one population group even contemplate to draft something like this against another population group? Not even in the old South Africa did the government not allow donations to a "black" orphanage. This is one more example why racist policies like BEE are totally wrong. New South Africa . . . WTF

One has to be really stupid and idiotic not realizing that the BEE system has been implemented for only the following reasons:

* Enriching even more the minority black elite.
* Oppressing any other race who wants to start a business in SA en limiting the growth.

In future more of these type of ridiculous things can be expected in regards to BEE.

BEE is a racist policy despite government (and white left wing intellectual) lies to the contrary.

Old South Africa had guys who still believed in some form of objective morality and post mortem judgement.
New SA has none of that. Obviously the ANC are not using "reason" in this regard, or perhaps they are using reason.

Again my point about individuals not mattering. Only political ideas count. Only mass perceptions count. So yeah, enjoy more of this in the future.

The ANC supporters on this forum always try to justify stupid decision by our government. But when the government does something really moronic the ANC supporters are absent from the thread.
