Well you wish may come true, and both HD DVD and blu ray may be in for a spot of bother.

Blame the Chinese and their fantastic Xenophobia, but in their bid to "remove all onus of foreign IP" from Chinese products, they're releasing a new disc format, "EVD" still based on Red Laser that is in effect a DVD with an HD movie on it.

The big scary part is that all Chinese DVD manufacturers are commiting to changing to the format next year, and Bollywood has given it it's backing as well. So what do you have? 1/3 of the worlds population backing it, that's what, and why this HD war ain't over until madam butterfly has sung . . .

lol... I wonder how will the piracy around Hong Kong & Thailand work out with the variety of video formats? I mean if EVD doesnt kick off in the US & EU who will buy all the pirate EVDs?
