You will get charged R170 as a debit order rejection fee.My monthly bill is only R200 odd ever month:wtf::twisted:
This is my fault,(didnt keep track of much in that long weekend lol!) but this exorbitant fee is mentioned nowhere.

Seen one case on hellopeter already and Telkom just didnt get back to the guy, was wondering if you guys can weigh in and maybe give the fees that other companies charge with debit order rejections?
Thnx

Seems like they debited on the 23rd instead of my payday because of that long weekend, so i'm safe, hopefully.:)

I know that most banks charge you when a debit order is rejected ("journal entry fee"). It could be R170 for some banks. I don't have any recent experience to draw on.

So it sound like you are blaming Telkom for something your bank did.

Nope, that R170 is on my Hellkom bill?

Its a standard fee. Plus you probably have a rejection fee from your bank. So the R170 + R99 + your R200 odd...

That's why my Cape Town municipality and Telkom are manual payments. Both have nailed me that ridiculous fee for a bounced debit order.

Most banks still charge over R100. ABSA reduced theirs to R5 or so a few years ago. So I'll keep my debit orders there. I'm an entrepreneur so sometimes payments are late ...

The R170 is Telkoms reconnection fee.

My line wasnt disconnected at all, its states on the telkom statement - Service fees R170.
Good thing is that they have debited alot of people on the 23rd incorrectly(prerecording says this while waiting on the line for a billing consultant), so i will just wait and see if they reverse. My requested debit date is the 25th(payday).

I have never experienced anything of such nature with Virgin Mobile for example skipping 3 payments and no interest or anything was charged or late payment.
