After a week of trying to get MTN to resolve my speed issues, and not succeeding I want to warn anyone off of thinking they might get the uncapped lite package. I would strongly advise them to look for an alternative.

It wouldn't be so bad if they gave me speeds according to their "fair use" policy but 7KB/s is Bull****.

Avoid at all costs.

dont you have to sign a 24 month contract? if so, how does one only use it once?

You have a cooling off period (10 days or so?) after you get it, during which you can return it and cancel your contract.

I remember a short time ago, how people signed up on this contract, used the 2-10gig cap, and then proceeded to average 30-100gig per month. they raped the service to the point that the network provider had no other choice but to speed up the installation of the throttling equipment. Now the people that raped so much are in absolute distress and the people that are honest are suffering too. Its a sad state of affairs this is.

Mine is still fine
+1
What I signed up for is exactly what I'm getting and I'm quite happy with that. There are some days when the speed does get really slow, but it never lasts for long. I consider paying R 289 for the 30 -40 GB I use per month cheap, compared to other service providers...plus there's the added benefit of not worrying about the OOB shark

We are battling with signal in the area at the moment, this means that connection sometimes drops completely - so we frequently have to reset our router.

Other than that though, it isn't bad at all - also getting what I signed up for.

so people that actually think something called uncapped has a limit are honest and those that understand english and think uncapped means "no limit" are dishonest? Well done.

You should take a look at your ping and your signal strength.I never go lower that 100kbps.

I've been using my blackberry and MTN on a 3G network for downloading. I noticed once for a whole day my speed was about 2kbs. Eventually it went back to normal. But, it did take quite long. Vodacom FTW.

I have had some bad days with the lite package. Very slow speeds etc.
But at the end of the Month I always get alot more than 25GB Downloaded.
My throttle does get bad sometimes but give it a hour or two and it usually bounces back.

MY problem with the speed of this service seems to be every month when my 3 gig is loaded again. It seems that when its loaded I can only connect with Edge and can download nothing! But it seems if the 3 gig is used up and the speed is down to 384 then it's fine again. Can download on average 20 to 30 gig in the month..
Also if you do have the Huawei usb 367 router, get the firmware update for it, running Update 11.810 on 64 bit and that also sorts out the speed problem...
