Don't skip Vista, says Microsoft

The mods can cram all the above posts into ONE post because essentially... WE ARE ALL IN AGREEMENT about this hogwash that was spat forth by the Evil Corporation!!! :D
 
No matter how I look at it - using vista sucks... and I've tried justifying vista with it's fancy interface and all but it's just a piece of unstable junk... really sad actually.
 
I don't plan to buy vista, if I can advance far enough with Linux then xp will be the last windows that I bought.
 
Pft, like hell I'm gonna stick Vista on my network at work, with over 100 PCs and only about 20% of them fit to run Vista, as if.

While I'm not anti Vista, the cost factor, not to mention the work and planning is futile.

I'll wait for Win7, I mean, Vista SP3 :p
 
I am HAPPILY enjoying Windows 7 on my PC and haven't encountered a compatibility issue other than with a Netgear (big surprise!) device yet. Waiting for Windows 7's final release to arrive and skipping Vista is an excellent idea.
 
Vista is just a M$ product to condition us to their bad development. I also reckon if you go XP 2 Win7 your not going to be impressed, but Vista 2 Win7 will be like Christmas everyday.
 
The beta seems to be working fine, so far, some of my XP drivers still work, like my wi-fi card.., sorry to be rude or watever, but this may be the next "xp" with aerostyle, and a whole lot more, with IE8 and media player12, no "UAC" unless u know wat ur doin, my comment would be....
"why did they launch win 7 after vista? " Do some of you remeber the great leap from win98 to xp, this could be the next xp..........

Anyone have a Windows 7 Beta that I can burn to a disc and do this with too?

Maybe we can have competitions to see which OS skips the furthest? :D:D

I think what she means about the compatibility statement is that companies will drop support for the XP versions of their products long before they have Windows 7 versions and the only supported versions will be Vista for a while.

Having said that I still think this is a cynical attempt to try and get users to buy Vista and Windows 7.

This makes me put on my tin foil hat and wonder whether Microsoft won't artificially delay Windows 7 for 12 months to get people to buy Vista as well as delaying the release until this global financial meltdown has run its course. It does make business sense to take this approach.

I'll try to make XP last until Windows 7 SP1 is released though.

i worked for 2 major co.'s in the past year, both with huge IT depts and they couldn't be bothered with vista, all new machines are simply upgraded before being handed down to staff.

Maybe a true and valid point, she makes. Some applications and drivers, Vista compatible, will just not install in Windows 7. I presume some tweaking will have to be done. Still NO way will I will kick Windows7 out now.
 
What they're trying to say guys is this " We are a bunch of idiots. We messed up guys. Mr Gates still only uses XP. Stick with XP until we find a way to change XP into Windows 8".
 
C'mon guys. This issue is being overblown by anti-MS journos and forumites. Read the full story in InformationWeek. All the lady said was that companies need to be careful in planning their applications upgrade path lest they find that software vendors (not Microsoft) no longer support their apps on WinXP but don't yet support their apps on Win7. Now this is being reported as MS trying to bully people into getting Vista. This is so bizarre, and of course utter crap .... jeez, and some people compain that MS hypes/overblows things.
