but soul-assassin , what about my idea? get BT games or matrix or CNA to allow you to buy the copy and some tech guy would start the DL and check that it actually works, and do the upgrade of drivers if necessary ect....

I mean surely by the amount of returns they have this is a viable option? even an extra revenue stream?

or even they lend you an external with the game, leave a deposit and copy the game at home.

surely there must be an easier way of playing AAA games without massive DL or piracy for people that dont have fast enough internet....

That would mean they have to have fast business uncapped internet, which would cost them more money and training/work for the employees, so they in theory can offer something like that but this being SA means they would charge too much for such a service to cover the initial cost and to turn a profit.

It would be easier to just ask on one of the SA forums for someone close to you that has the game if you can copy the files from them.
 
Bethesda at it again. **** these folks. They did the same **** with FO4. Why bother bundling a DVD at all if you're going to put 20% of the game on it. Why do they think people buy physical media in the first place?

fair enough ADSL and uncapped and all that jazz, but again not everybody has those things......

look if it was a small amount to DL, and once a month a small DL again, Id go for it,
but this is just extreme, surely better to DL a pirated copy and then play offline as long as you want,
and share with your friends like the good old days?

I know piracy is bad and wrong, but surely did they not think of this issue when you buy the game for X and then you need to DL so much
and even that has cost, and then the rest of the time you need to be online....

surely its a bad business model? limits access to casual players and non technical people....

Limits access to people in **** hole countries, most of whom can't afford to buy their games anyway.

this is my point exactly, cant bethseda make it easier to share the massive DL files?

I mean if you gonna share it dont you need to form of patch to get it to work with your installation?
 
They could just dump it on a mem stick in the box, the developers. At the price they are asking im sure its more than possible

Of course they can make it easier but like I said this means a bigger expense to them to cater for 1% of people buying the game.

If you ask someone to copy their game files the route you would take is use the Steam game backup option and on your PC you use the Steam game restore option and you are good to go.
 
Download finally finished sometime today,
I didn't download at my max line speed(2meg) the weekend.
Installing it now, and then I can finally play!

downloading latest beta amd driver incase I need it.
 
So, should've torrented a Pre-load earlier last week to save time on the install, the 15th?????

The top seeded torrent of the preload contains malware:

Trojan.Win32.StartPage.fshd which is adware.

TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen which attempts to edit the registry.
