Doom Eternal

Anyone looking for a classic Doom channel on YouTube must check out a YouTuber called Decino

He does play-throughs of mega wads (like Sunlust, Back 2 Saturn X and Valiant) and also live streams slaughter maps like Okuplok and Sunder. In addition, his analysis videos of Doom's programming are fantastic and informative. Highly recommended.

While we are on the doom...

Prboom rt makes classic doom ray traced. For now it requires nvidia rtx cards.

Obviously its wip.
Well then, looks very nice on via my 3080. Better than the 480p hack on 1070 ti. haha.

Just watched this and I agree

is it really that bad wanting to play D:E end to end with the boomstick? Some of us actually done quake 1 with just the axe or more "recent" left for dead with just the blunts. But oh god we must play it the idsoft-dev way othewise we are kak players, right. Funny when you realise that they are literally saying our way is good, but "your way" is bad. "your way" is old, however, "our way" is better and tighter like a nun.

I played D16 and D:E through several times on PC and PS4/5. Thoroughly enjoyed both of them.

D16 was a more faithful re-imagining of the original 2 games in my mind, while D:E was a really cool take at modernizing the formula.

I feel like they are too different to pick an outright "winner".

I like Gordon, but he wasn't as vocal when the story broke two years* ago, so why write a statement on it now, 2 years later? Yes, he had commentary back then, but then the id peeps explained themselves and Gordon didn’t add anything more.

Something changed.

*Just checked, it was three years ago.

He mentions that right after the reddit post lawyers became involved, so my guess would be he was advised not to publicly say anything? His current response almost certainly was looked over by lawyers as well I would imagine! Interesting stuff.

I’d had enough. I grew tired of having the respect I afforded Marty, and his employer, with attempts to resolve the dispute privately, get turned into a giant waste of time, effort and money. The Reddit post had been up for 15 months and attempts to resolve the dispute with Marty had gotten me nowhere. With my patience stretched to the absolute limit, I decided to take steps to remove the Reddit post myself.

Id software has a reputation of stuffing around musicians. Trent Reznor was the first.

This story seems to have some legs on it though, I'd be surprised if they don't release some sort of statement.

Perhaps read the full statement.

Perhaps read the full statement.

I did read it, more like scanned through it, but it doesn't change that considerable time has passed. There may be legal reasons, but it is best to see whether id/Bethesda will respond or whether they will respond.

Either way, a party is damaged here.

Did anyone actually believe Marty's reddit post? You needed half a brain cell to see something is happening behind the scenes and no way would id recognise they made a mistake.

I have to say, I was pretty much unaware of the drama when Doom Eternal came out. I vaguely remember things about people analyzing the music and complaining about it, but that's about it.

I took the solid hour or so to properly read Mick's long post, and then Marty's reddit post and holy hell, I am disappointed in how Bethesda and Id have handled things and a rather shocked. If Mick is telling the truth, the poor dude has had some serious weights on his shoulders.

I am interested to see what comes of this - hoping the honorable thing happens and they are able to reconcile.

Micks post is well worth the read. It's hella long, but the details are quite spicy.

Plot twist:
1. Marty Stratton has activision experience/past and is business first.
2. Tim Willits who was creativity orientated and was studio director during doom 2016 production.
