Dota 2

haha everywhere is Toxic. But solo ranked is horrid. 4k Players with god complex!!!
I've played in SA and I've played in the EU. I was in the UK for 3 months. Played a few games and just gave up on dota until I could get home to the guys I play with regularly.

Utter horrow show. Guys intentionally feeding because they didn't get mid. Guys purposefully blinking and hooking allies into enemies to get them killed. The endless swearing and racism. SA players are angels compared to the cesspool that is the EU player base.

I met some nice people while playing over there but man they were few and far between.

Wow. Never played UE (Besides few battle cup games) but I didn't think a community could get any worse.

Angels? lol ok.....

That is the whole reason I almost never solo queue.

I've been out of it for so long :( work work work and I cannot get myself to like the new patch and all the changes. Too much at once for me, I'm too old lol. It's the same as Warhammer 40k, I used to love it until they brought out a complete rehash of the rules, spent ages learning the new rules only for them to bring out a new edition which I'd have to learn once again :(

Hey All

Strange question/request here...

I mostly play with my friends, which is cool. My friends are cool too...but they are terrible Dota players :)

Going 2-20 is normally followed by a "Ah well, too bad"
So, I'd like to take the next step to something a bit more serious. I'm looking to a join a team. A team that maybe plays once or twice a week and put some thought and effort into what they are doing.

I'm by no means an amazing player. I've played close to 2000 matches, with average stats across the board. I do play a lot though, 2-3 games most nights. I read a lot, I watch pro games, I follow the meta and I'd like to think I can be competitive under the right circumstances. When I solo queue I tend to play in High Skill Bracket.

I have a very decent hero pool. I tend to play safe-lane carry but can easily play support or off-lane too. I wouldn't consider myself competitive mid material. I can last-hit effectively and farm fast with heroes that allow it.

If there are any teams out there looking for a player I'm happy to try out. PM me any time or email at [email protected]
I'm a chilled guy with a family and RL and a 8-5 day-job, so ideally something mature.

Cheers

Watched a few Kiev qualifier matches over the weekend and have to admit that it gets boring very fast with most teams picking the same **** over and over, with the occasional pudge for some excitement here and there.

At least the Moonduck twitch.tv channel had some entertaining casters, otherwise I probably would have slept through most of the matches.

The problem with smurfs is they think they are good when they destroy the legit newbies, that pisses me off.

I also had a smurf account to play with my friends that where new to the game, now that they are familiar with the game I dont play on the smurf.

Anyone else having issues during matchmaking where you get banned for failing to ready up - without the ACCEPT button ever appearing. It's been happening to me intermittently on the SA servers for around 2 months now. I'm on 10Mbps fibre and pings to the two SA servers is +-4ms on average. So I don't think it's anything to do with a poor connection. First ban is for 4min, second is for 18min and then it usually starts working again.

Think I've only played like 10 games in the last 2 months, so can't really say. I haven't come across the issue before.

RIP SA Ranked

"REGIONAL CHANGES

Ranked Matchmaking will no longer be available in South Africa, India, and Dubai. We will update these servers as the unranked populations in these regions grow to the critical mass needed to be able to support splitting the user base into Ranked and Unranked queues.

While there are some players that used these servers for Ranked, the low populations made them prime targets for various Ranked Matchmaking abuses. For the time being, players in these regions will need to join Ranked Matchmaking queues in one of the other nearby supported servers."

TBH makes no difference to the life of the casual SA player who plays unranked anyway.

Not sure who followed the KIEV major, the guys in the grand final talked about remote areas with SG e-sports doing so good, and redeye mentioned south Africa as a remote area they would like to get involved and potentially boosted, even though nothing will probably come of it, felt good at least that some see our hurt. :crylaugh:

Yeah I saw that. They were talking about the possibility of taking a major to Africa and Redeye mentioned SA and the Bravado guys. Merlini was quick to shoot it down though, saying that Denmark or Sweden should be on the list as at least they are much more central and not as remote as SA.

Big ups on Redeye for standing up for us though. Location is a huge issue - take Ana from OG. In order for him to make it to top tier Dota he had to move from Oz to Europe. If he was still down under he would not have been partaking in Kiev. Guaranteed.

Skip to the end(35:42). Never thought I'd see the signing of Autographs in Dota2.

OG got wind of Ana because of how he performed when he played for iG, Aussies get very decent ping to Asian servers so his first pro scene breakthrough was not tough per se, he initially moved from Oz to China as a result of iG discovering him whilst he was playing from Australia. moving to EU was just the result of joining OG so that he could train with his team mates in the same gaming house.
