I've got a question regarding dota 2 ping, currently my pc connects to internet via Wifi router connection. Usually my ping is around 100ms, but can become unstable at times spiking to 400ms, which is rather troublesome sure huge team fights.

In your experience, will ping improve if I connect my pc directly to the router?

Moving the telephone cable is a bit of a mission, which is why I haven't tried it out yet, but is possible if it will improve ping.

Why move the phone cable?

Just get a longer network cable.

And cable is always more stable.

Agreed with Chev. Ping won't necessarily be better, but your connection will be much more stable.

Changed mine from Wifi to Ethernet, ping dropped from 150+/- down to 10-15ms

Hmmm ok, think I'll just borrow a network cable for testing as ideally I'd like to move my telephone cable as it's just neater at the end of the day. Thanks for the feedback

I think it has more to do with your ISP than your connection to your router. My ping was always around 30-50, but now it's hardly ever below 150, and my setup is exactly the same as it's always been.

Also a factor for consideration, but need to start eliminating one thing at a time. For now I'll switch to wired connection, if that stays the same I'll start trying out different ISPs, already have 3 different ones to choose from.

ISP wise I switched from Afrihost to Webafrica awhile back, that already improved my ping slightly, definitely more stable now.

True also. After I binned that stupid Fon router, speeds improved drastically. It's like the neighbours decided to download all their torrents on my connection.

Every time I open dota 2 it downloads 12Megs of data, does this happen to everyone?

Yesterday I had a very strange/wtf game, I played Lich, my main focus was a support, but my team mates was quite strange, I started top lane and teleported where I saw a need to go assist, I don't know if I was lucky or actually played a good game, I got most of the last right clicks in thus killing off the enemy heroes, my team mates got very very angry as I got tripple kills with chain frost, the abuse was real, report threats was thrown at me for playing good, I was at one stage 14/0/? So everyone tuned my to **** off and I can solo lane because I'm so good, very sarcastically! So the enemy tried to gank me because thats how dota works if you are godlike. So now everyone starts hating me again for feeding after 2 quick successful ganks from the enemy. I ended up ignoring my team in the late game they started to realize they need me for the team fights after they told me the whole time to **** off to my own lane! It was so stupid and frustrating it felt like LoL all over again

You're supposed to feed kills to your carry as supports don't do as much with gold as the carry. You cannot control chain frost so your carry was supposed to try last hit for the kills.

A godlike support is generally useless if the carry does not get enough farm.

Wrong. A kill is a kill. The carry should be farming, that is his job. So supports should rather NOT go for a kill so that the carry can get it?

But the carries was useless, the only one that getting the last hits from my attacks was a PA so he stuck with me and dominated the the enemy! I owned the early game and got lotsa hate for it

There was this one kid he sounded like he was 10 years old giving us a play by play of what he was doing and going on about his wraith king and how cool it is when using a refresher orb, i eventually muted him i hate these public games atm

Not sure if its 12 Megs, but yup I get that too. Process called SteamHelper is doing it.

You either get it because you're running your steam in Beta Mode - So grabs any updates before they get put into a stable release. I had this on to use steam streaming before stable release.

Or, its just all the crap that the dota interface throws at you and new items added to the shop.

Wrong. A kill is a kill. The carry should be farming, that is his job. So supports should rather NOT go for a kill so that the carry can get it?

If the carry is in the fight then they are not farming so you should try give kills to them.
