lol, the daily bonus points that just keep on increasing does help a lot.

Keeping in mind that arcana holders automatically have 4800 more points which helps a little, more so in the beginning than now I guess.

I'm not sure what those daily points are at by this point but as a person who hasn't paid for any points yet I have never had enough points to upgrade my beast beyond level 2. If someone where able to upgrade their beast to level 3 (I mean... it has a freaking refresher orb and resurrection aura at that point for crying out loud) I imagine I would battle to win.

There has definitely been a pay to win element in it, especially in the beginning. First time I played that game mode we got stomped so hard it wasn't funny. We didn't even have enough points to level up the beast once and they had enough to do it to level 2. Game was over in 25 minutes.

Yea that is rough. That Dota Asia tournament put Axe in the nerfing crosshair I'm afraid.

I find if you focus on their heroes first the beast goes down easy when isolated.

Axe + Dark Seer = GG. There are some awesome combos you can do with an axe, but the one that we have tried over and over again is Axe + DS. You Ion shell him just before he blinks and calls then when they start running away you vacuum into a wall. It's hectic.
 
He still has 20% spin chance (up from 17%) and a 10 second cooldown AoE lockdown that goes THROUGH bkb, so I rate he will still be picked. Heck, we even saw someone build a refresher on him during DAC so they could use Berserker's Call twice in one fight. That should tell you that his strongest ability by far is his Q.

As for Year Beast, people complain about P2W but honestly the only time I was matched with people that could upgrade their beast to level 2 was when I could do the same. I haven't even seen a level 3 beast yet since I don't have enough points to upgrade him.

As for strategy, it's quite easy to win the game with the first year beast spawn if you have the right team composition, which means you don't even give the enemy the chance to upgrade theirs (if they even can). Heroes that excel in early game teamfights are king of this mode. Undying, Bristleback, Zues, Viper, Razor, Dazzle, Axe etc. are all good picks. Focus on killing the enemy heroes and when they are all dead, kill their beast and then just push down all of their towers. I'm 5-0 so far in the limited time that I have to play and only one of those games did we get a level 2 beast. You just have to abuse the fact that he can melt towers early and build a team that can kill early and fast.

Pay to win or not... I have won all 5 of my year beast matches I only have like 6k points... lucky maybe. But its more about how you use him and with what heroes.

I see people taking late game heroes with him.. Just don't. Most games are just 20 mins long. Well that is if you play against my 5man stack :D
 
Sadly I mostly get horrible team members in my year beast matches :(

Last night I played one with me picking bristle, my team members went for Axe, Jug, Disruptor and CM, the enemy went with Drow,Huskar,Tusk,Luna and Abbadon, needless to say we lost the game.
 
Biggest game changer I have seen is undying, that totem is so strong early game at the first beast match up. The enemy doesn't know whether to run or fight. Neither is a good option.
 
Got 3 more year beast wins in yesterday, One at 16:00, one at 20:00 last one at 23:00.

Almost lost one vs a undying, DP, warlock combo
 
Whats with all the trolls lately??? Just played a game where the Rubick figured he would mid and the Slark ended up 3 - 16... Needless to say we got absolutely analed. Over this crap.

Tell me about it, ended up playing a year beast match last night with a 4 man stack, all their first year beast game..... was grating my teeth whole game, fking annoying.

Had it, too. Another annoying thing that's happening, that someone else mentioned in a game last night too, is clicking to move, and your character suddenly turns around and moves the other way.

Best Advice: 95% of Your Pain Is Caused By Your Own Stupidity

In a game of Dota 2, you either get "analed", or you do the "analing" and then promptly get "analed" the next 4 games, because Dota 2 MM ****ing hates you.

Don't work yourself up over a game that you won't become pro at and earn money.
