I'm also not quite decided on a character yet.
Dont play riki ,sniper, huskar, bloodseeker or axe. You will be mocked for being pure utter noob.

The reason those heroes are regarded as noob heroes is because they are easy to play with when you are starting out... you want him to start out with the complicated heroes???![]()
For the first few games just pick a ranged hero like Sniper or Drow, stay behind the wave of AI controlled units that spawn at your end of each lane (the creeps).I don't understand half of what you said.
I understand the game dynamics being an old school Warcrat, starcraft player but it's all the smaller intricacies that I am just learning.
What to buy from the shops, what to upgrade, last hit farming, etc.
I don't really care what words you use to describe it (they're basically the same word though) you have given horrible advice. Those heroes are considered easy heroes because they are easy to play for a beginner. Don't tell a new player battling to understand the basic mechanics of the game not to pick heroes that require little management. He is a newb, not a noob.

If new players start with simple heroes it leaves them free to concentrate on the mechanics of the game.
Besides if he starts in the Limited Heroes mode most of the okes in there are new players anyway.
Play whatever heroes you feel most comfy with. There is no such thing as a noob hero. Just noob people on the opposite team who dont know how to counter that hero.

Exactly my feelings. If it's in the hero pool, it's a valid hero. The only time people will call you a noob is when you assream them with a "noob" hero that they can't counter properly.

On the other hand should he start playing heroes that require a lot of effort or skill to manage he may be turned off of the game entirely thinking the learning curve is simply too steep.I didnt start out playing those type of heroes, different strokes for different folks I guess.
The reason I encourage new players to start playing more challenging heroes is because if they keep playing easy heroes they will find it very difficult to play heroes that need more skill, trust me, ive seen it many many times.
OK if you are already comfortable with the basics then Sniper and Drow and such are not going to help you learn much more.Well as stated before, I understand the game dynamics so have no issue using my forces to take the damage while I stand back and snipe or use ranged attacks.
I had a fair bit of success playing as Zeus.
For now I need to understand the intricacies of items, wards, etc. and get a better understanding of what the different support types are etc.
I 90% of the time random, so...
I random 99% of the time. I never pick a Hero myself in AP, if I pick a hero and I fail I get upset with myself.I 90% of the time random, so...
You should already get put into the same category as other newer players. But with so many troll accounts going around, the matchmaking sucks..I Just started to play dota this weekend and man it so much fun.
Is there a place or something where you can pick to only play with new players or lower tier players?
It not nice if you play and some of your team mates rage as you not doing or playing like they want you to play.
Or should i gest ignore them and play on till i get better and know what is all required of me in team fight and stuff?
