Dota 2

Dont play riki ,sniper, huskar, bloodseeker or axe. You will be mocked for being pure utter noob.
He uh... is a noob

The reason those heroes are regarded as noob heroes is because they are easy to play with when you are starting out... you want him to start out with the complicated heroes???

I don't understand half of what you said.
I understand the game dynamics being an old school Warcrat, starcraft player but it's all the smaller intricacies that I am just learning.
What to buy from the shops, what to upgrade, last hit farming, etc.
For the first few games just pick a ranged hero like Sniper or Drow, stay behind the wave of AI controlled units that spawn at your end of each lane (the creeps).

To see whcih items to get I suggest you look at a site like dotafire and fetch a guide.

Supporting is a far harder job than right-clicking and requires a lot more map awareness and ward placement approaches than you are likely to be comfortable with starting out. You are going to have enough on your plate just figuring out where your character needs to stand to not die all the time and other such basics. I hope you enjoy, the game can be incredibly fun once you figure it out.

I don't really care what words you use to describe it (they're basically the same word though) you have given horrible advice. Those heroes are considered easy heroes because they are easy to play for a beginner. Don't tell a new player battling to understand the basic mechanics of the game not to pick heroes that require little management.

If new players start with simple heroes it leaves them free to concentrate on the mechanics of the game.

Besides if he starts in the Limited Heroes mode most of the okes in there are new players anyway.

I didnt start out playing those type of heroes, different strokes for different folks I guess.

The reason I encourage new players to start playing more challenging heroes is because if they keep playing easy heroes they will find it very difficult to play heroes that need more skill, trust me, ive seen it many many times.

Have to kinda agree. A friend of mine who only started playing Dota about 6 months ago played Sniper only each and every game until he got the feel for the game. Once he started rocking that Sniper he switched to more hero's he even did his 10 hero challenge for the compendium... :p

Good luck anyway dude. If you need help just shout.

Play whatever heroes you feel most comfy with. There is no such thing as a noob hero. Just noob people on the opposite team who dont know how to counter that hero.

Exactly my feelings. If it's in the hero pool, it's a valid hero. The only time people will call you a noob is when you assream them with a "noob" hero that they can't counter properly.

Well as stated before, I understand the game dynamics so have no issue using my forces to take the damage while I stand back and snipe or use ranged attacks.
I had a fair bit of success playing as Zeus.

For now I need to understand the intricacies of items, wards, etc. and get a better understanding of what the different support types are etc.

Best noob hero would be Invoker. Once you play invoker, everything else will be piss easy.

I 90% of the time random, so...

I agree, in the higher level games the sniper usually get shut down from very early on. If there is no warding, or poor warding he will almost always get ganked. And the Nyx, PA etc normally prey on him because he is so soft. Sure it is harder to get other heroes right, but those heroes also have more in their arsenal to their disposal to take out a sniper one on one.

On the other hand should he start playing heroes that require a lot of effort or skill to manage he may be turned off of the game entirely thinking the learning curve is simply too steep.

Don't get me wrong. I readily acknowledge that the learning curve in Dota in incredibly steep. There is so much to take in before you become even a mediocre player (which is where I consider myself to be). I don't think it is at all wise to encourage new players to play something that requires a lot of management right up front. Most games I've ever played start you off simple and make the game progressively harder so you can master new skills as you go along. Dota is different in that it tosses you into the deep end from the start. In light of that I think minimising the difficulty in the hero being played helps.

OK if you are already comfortable with the basics then Sniper and Drow and such are not going to help you learn much more.

You have a few things you can do with regards to wards: Firstly watch other supports play. See where they ward and you will quickly get a feel for the best ward positions. Secondly play support yourself. Buy the wards and place them yourself. Knowing your wards are saving your carries and seeing the synergy it brings to your team is a great feeling.

As to items find a hero you like the look of and look up a guide on dotafire. Try that guide out against bots until you are comfortable with his/her abilities and build. Then go play against human players.

A couple of other aspects of the game I think all players should learn about at some point are rune and jungle mechanics.

For jungling remember that jungle creeps spawn at the 30 second mark at the beginning of the game and then will spawn at the minute mark from then on provided their camp (spawn site) is empty. Learn which camps on Radiant and Dire contain the weaker jungle creeps and which contain the stronger ones so you know which camps to approach first. Learn which creeps have the best compromise between difficulty to bring down and the xp+gold rewards for defeating them. Learn how to pull creeps, learn how to stack jungle camps etc. (you can look up videos on how to do this youtube is full of them).

Runes spawn at the beginning of the game and from then on at the even minute marks (so a rune will spawn at 2 minutes in, then 4, then 6 etc.) provided there is no rune in play at that moment. Bottles will capture a rune if you right click on the rune while holding a bottle. The bottle will hold the rune for 2 minutes from the point at which you captured it at which point it will activate automatically.

I random 99% of the time. I never pick a Hero myself in AP, if I pick a hero and I fail I get upset with myself.

So if I Random I feel like I play better. I'm also so used to the extra starting gold

I Just started to play dota this weekend and man it so much fun.

Is there a place or something where you can pick to only play with new players or lower tier players?
It not nice if you play and some of your team mates rage as you not doing or playing like they want you to play.

Or should i gest ignore them and play on till i get better and know what is all required of me in team fight and stuff?

You should already get put into the same category as other newer players. But with so many troll accounts going around, the matchmaking sucks..

So just play limited heroes mode, I've seen friends play there and they didn't have a hard time.
