Dota 2

I think that we forget how young these guys are. I mean, 20 is a bit old for RTZ but sumail is barely a teen.

I could not disagree more. These guys are faced with decisions that normal teens aren't. They are forced to make career decisions, move to entirely different countries. Just because someone has their mother pack their bags isn't a sign of maturity. Many wives pack for their husbands, hell my wife packs for me.
I guess when you put it like that... Makes a bit more sense... Guess just they way I see it, because they are making such big decisions at such a young age... Something as simple as packing a bag for a trip seems rather simple...

Lol,thats kinda what I meant. They are not normal teens / young adults. They live games, it's their life.

Started playing All Random again. I'd forgotten how great that mode is. Nobody takes it seriously, you just have fun. What Dota was for me before everybody started getting so worked up over it.

Fun but very unbalanced at times.

^^This

With less players searching for it widens the gap even more. If you are a decent player with a big hero pool you'd probably find life easy. Every time I tried it my team was like "Excuse the feed, first time Meepo"

Or the 5 man squishy/hard carry team.

Didn't they put bots into SD and AR games or did they fix that.

I normally AP then random.

Searching SD at slightly odd times gives you pretty much 100% chance of playing against 5 bots.

I know it's cheezy.....but it's a great way to spend your Battle Pass Tokens and do your hard quests 3 stars :)
It's actually become a little challenge for me to see how quick I can finish....

Very new to DOTA as I've been a Heroes of Newerth player since 2010 so as a support whore, I've just been playing the HoN ports (Dazzle, Lion and Necrophos) while I get to grips with the mechanics of the game. In my estimation, it's played at a lot more relaxed pace than HoN which is great as a newbie learning the game. My biggest issue now is finding my way around the shop and the items I need. Guess that will just come with time.

One question though. I'm unable to deny creeps which I'm assuming is just a key binding issue. Is it possible to right click a creep in deny range to deny it or must it be done by pressing a key (usually A) and clicking on the creep?

You have to A-click the allied creep to deny it. You're able to start attacking it once it is below half health.

Feel free to add me and we can play together some time. Steam name is melonh3d. Always keen to help new players get to grips with the game. Can help you learn pull timings, basic ward spots and such.

Any item with a SS in the picture indicates Secret Shop.

Familiarise yourself with the side shop too.

A + select (left click) will deny if allies are on 15% health.

Open options in Dota, go to the options tab, select "Force right-click attack". You can add me too scary_turtle

This works well.

Also, something to keep in in mind, as that SOME items that gets listed as Secret Shop Only is actually available in the side shop. Most notable the Mana Booster (a component for Mana Boots), which every support player needs. If you safe-lane this saves you a 2min trip to the shop.

I'm not super up to date with the latest patches but don't you have to have dot damage on you like QOP's shadow strike in order to be denied?

Its been like that since Dota 1 days unless something has changed.

When you can deny an ally's hero?
When he is under:

-DOOM (ultimate Doom)
-Venomous Gale (first skill Venomancer)
-Shadow Strike (first skill Queen of Pain)

Heroes, that can deny themselves

-Techies - Suicide Squad, Attack!
-Pudge - Rot
-Alchemist - Unstable Concoction
-Abaddon - Mist Coil
-Pugna - Life Drain when used on an ally
Example:

Also you can deny ally heroes with spells:

-Bane - Nightmare
-Kill with ally creeps that are being controlled by Chen, Enchantress or any hero with Helm of Dominator.
-Creeps created by Nature's Prophet, Lycan, Beastmaster and etc.
