Dota 2

Ok cool. Hopefully it's ok tomorrow. I'm going to be online for an extended games session with Techead and we're hoping to crack on through a few games. This was my last game with Dazzle

You nearly had better GPM than your Zeus. :D

Actually how did the laning work... safelane shadow fiend in a trilane, offlane veno and mid zeus?

Nice assist count, you were active.

Played 2 games last night, still stuttering every now and then. Not as bad as a few night ago but still there.

Hoping it's fixed this weekend.

Jeez, not a great Friday night's play. Six matches with only 2 wins, culminating in this decimation! Can't understand how this one oke (Mors Deus) absolutely ate us.

I checked his level and it was in the 70's. How did we (who's levels aren't even in to double digits yet) get matched against him? We also sat in a party with Camikaze for almost 5 minutes but we disbanded as the disparity in our levels was preventing a successful match-make.

Why does everyone say this when level does mean something.
God I wish Valve had never introduced that fscking number. It just confuses people to no end.

MMR denotes your skill, not your account level. You've had this explained to you before, you simply refuse to listen.

Because you can be level 300 but have an MMR of 12 and be throwing potatoes at your screen whilst shouting - he is a higher level then me matchmaking is not fair.. When the opponents MMr is 13 but their level is 5000.

Ah, I didn't mean to stir up the hornets nest regarding the leveling. It would make sense to me that a higher level player is GENERALLY (not always) going to be better than a lower level player. They should know the game better, what each hero does, what are good counters to heroes etc. As a lower level player right now, I don't know that from a bar of soap.

My comment was also more related to the fact that this oke was put into our game whereas wanting to play with a mate (who was of a similar level to above mentioned player) wasn't possible. Sure, if we'd stayed in the queue for 20 minutes, we might have possibly ended up playing together but it was unlikely.

I also don't know how the games are created. Are they actually created on that level or are they in fact created according to MMR? MMR would in my estimation, be a more logical way of squaring players off against each other. But I'm a noob who's played a grand total of 9 games so far, so what do I know...

This is what im trying to say, a lvl 21 wont know as much about the game than a lvl 70*

*Provided they didnt buy levels or play dota 1.

The problem is that it is more than just playing the game that levels your account. Buying compendiums and leveling challenge trophies drastically alter your account level.

Someone can also start a brand new account from level 1 while having a main account at level 59894.

It isn't an accurate measurement of someone's skill level.

Rickster has had this explained to him but doesn't want to hear it.

You have both a visible ranked MMR and an invisible unranked MMR. When you play unranked the game is supposed to use that invisible number to pair you with players with similar MMR levels. The smaller player base of SA dota makes that difficult sometimes though so you will end up with far more unfair games than when you play in the EU or something like that.

Im not arguing that it reflects their skill, im arguing that it reflects their experience.

Anyway, that's my opinion.

Ah ok, I didn't know that this was possible. Yeah, then the leveling system does sound flawed and not a true measure of absolute skill.

So where would I see my MMR then? Can I check it on DOTAbuff.com or in-game only?
