Double debit by Telkom

Am I the only Telkom consumer who has suffered a double debit this week? Somehow, I doubt it!
I had an online chat with a consultant who - predictably - could not resolve my concern.
Then I call them and a voice message tells me they had a "technical" error where double debits ran!
HOW CAN THAT BE? Surely it is not a "button pushing" error that has resulted in this debit being taken twice?
It must be a fairly involved computer input debit instruction?
Next, what if say 2 mil customers are double billed. And it takes 3 days to return that debit. Who stands to get substantial interest on a large bank balance! Something smells rotten here!
 
I just got an sms that a refund will take place. Did not even notice the double debit until I got the sms and went to look on my statement.

How long did Telkom sit with your money before reversing it?
That's what concerns me.

And another scam is running. Around R 89 pm deducted from Standard Bank and Nedbank clients.
People in Durban saying I bought insurance from telesale!
I'm a broker who sells life cover!
Bank returned one amount and I am fighting for the other return.
Why does this have to be my problem? I trust my bank so give them my money (and pay them for that custodianship).
Why don't they take more care with it? How can debits, that I never signed for or authorised, run on my account?
