Double life

I'll rather build / buy my own PC at half the price thank you very much. Double to run the same Windoze apps? ROTFLOL! Oh, I forgot - IT LOOKS COOL AND YOUR MATES WILL ENVY YOU!!!
Cool - how about you build me one of these that will run OsX because I'm tired of paying a little bit more for quality. :)

Hehe, was just thinking that, an equivalent Dell XPS http://premierconfigure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/print_summary_details_popup.aspx?~lt=print&~tgt=global_cfg&c=za&cs=RC1078563&customer_id=RC1078563&l=en&oc=N15301&s=PAD&fb=1&leadtime=&showleadtime=False is a little cheaper, and the HP about a grand more than what I paid for mine. Only problem I have is with upgrades, Apple's prices are crazy, and self upgrades are hard :D. Upgrading the standard 120gb to a 320GB is something I am not doing again.

I spend more time in OS X because the two games I am playing lately work in the OS, World of Warcraft and Enemy Territory - QUAKE Wars.

The primary reason for my purchase however was for the BSD based OS. I can get pretty much any Linux software to run natively by compiling it myself, and with Security type software that was key for me. There are also tools like PORTS and FINK that help greatly with porting software from Linux to Mac

I am also using Fusion to do test audits on Windows and Linux machines and to play with tightening their security at the same time, makes for an awesome virtual lab, been using VMWare for this reason for 4-5 years now. It enables an IT Pro to really cut the costs on a proper lab because you only need to boost CPU and RAM, plus you can take your lab to any machine with VMWare installed and demo something. Something that I find more important though is the Saved State feature, which allows you to go back to a state before you broke something :D.

Something I do not agree with is stablility, this thing is about as stable as my Vista PC, so not much difference there. I can get at most two days without reboot, but that is also possibility due to the use of the machine ;)

Of course, there are those who make a DECENT living supporting mac and don't have to fight with the masses for a buck ;)
