downgrade in upload speeds...

It's not a case of no promise by Telkom really. I expect that - it's totally within their behaviour to do such a thing and not to raise an eyebrow. But it's the way they did it, that was so outrageous and hence my article to ItWeb - which incidentaly has been followed up by them. Only way I dound out was through my router when looking at my IP address. I feel cheated. If they had the balls to phone me and let me know, that would be better. But it's a true indication of present customer relations, when the customer is simply ignored. A new-attitude Telkom in the present or future? I'll believe it if the sky falls on my head.

Agreed - upload speeds were generally higher than would be expected but as long as they're delivering what's being paid for I dont see what can be done.

You call this 'delivering what's paid for'? You're an easy customer to please! Total for all of this: line / isp / adsl 384 totals about R700.00.

I expect more than a 192 kbps upload speed! Heck, what am I ranting on about. Nothing new! Learn to expect nothing and you're (most likely) not to be disappointed, right???!!?

I'm sorry - have I ever expressed anything other than distaste for telkom? I never said it was value for money and I'm not going to but if you pay for a particular level of service you cant rightly expect a higher one - especially from Telkom.

Nowhere that I've seen have they ever ever offered a 384/256 service so claiming that they've reduced it to 128 is just not correct.

Telkom sucks but IMHO you need to fight the battles you can win. All telkom is going to do is point out that they never offered anything other than a 128 upload speed for that package.

If they're failing to provide that then its a different matter - perhaps thats why rpm has asked ppl to submit their upload speeds? http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=51206
