Driven insane in SA

It often demands that one game the driving examiner, who may wish to flunk the hapless applicant in order to meet the day's failure quota.

WTF :mad::mad:

Yeah I was also wondering what that was about.

Yeah surprising

This however is not :o

That total does not include undetected scams, which are legion, and fakes sold by forgers and thieves. Among those caught in the act is the speaker of Parliament, Baleka Mbete-Kgositile, nabbed in 1997 for procuring a phony license from a government testing center.

Mbete explained at the time that she was "too busy" to stand in line for a license.

this is no joke, i saw a lady buying a car and screwing it up when she was busy reversing it out of the place ... when they asked her for her license she said she didnt need one because she only drives in umtata.

solid.

I'm not sure the failure quota is too surprising either. Not the support of publicity you want on the front page of a major international newspaper either way though.

Failing quotas blow. The concept is just BS.

I still think that following all those funky rules is freakin dangerous, cause one is always looking in the mirrors/blindspots and never paying attention to where one is going.

Everyone else has hours upon hours to stand in the queues because of departmental incompetence? What message will this send out? Its okay to lie, cheat and steal if you're "too busy" to do it legally?

When you end up killing someone whilst driving because you aren't qualified to drive, how then do you justify your actions?

You can't have made a better point. But tell that to the powers that be :(

I did K53 a few months ago.. there's no way i still drive like that.. you more worried about whats going on around you then what your doing.

And lets be serious, who does a 5 point check after everytime they pull there hand brake up :)

I think they need to revise the system.

I still use my handbrake, when going around corners at high speed :D:p

K53 helped me. I still use most of the rules I learnt, except the handbrake rule. But knowing whats happening around you is always a good thing!!

I have a question about an accident.

If theres an accident happening and theres a car out of control, coming straight for you and you reverse to avoid the car and should it hit the next person, is it your fault or how does that work??

It happened to me yesterday but luckily the barrier stopped the rogue car, but the taught crossed my mind, i already reverse and was out of the cars path and only afterward I realized I put a whole family in danger of getting killed!

If you dodge the car and you hit someone else, its your fault. Not very fair though. . .

I strongly suggest everyone who has the cash to go for an advanced driving course of some sort. If you do this and succeed, in my books, you are a good driver.

No man I move away to safety and the rogue car hits another car instead of hitting me...

What i found to work quite good is blind spot mirrors, then you don't have to knock your neck into a spasm every time you want to change lanes.

Soory :p , nope, not your fault then, then its the person driving the rogue car's fault. You will have to be a witness though.

I can't see that being your fault at all. The rogue car is obviously to blame for whatever he hits.

Whoever manages to evade the rogue car and who ends up getting hit by it is all up to the luck of the draw.

The other day, while driving through the good ol' transkei, there was a car coming straight for me after his bonnet got scooped by the wind and smashed into the windscreen, effectively leaving the driver blind. I had a truck next to me but just managed to swerve out the way. If there was a car behind me it would've been hit by the oncoming car. Sure, someone could've been badly hurt, but so could you. I still wouldn't consider it my fault... and neither should you.
