Driven insane in SA

If theres an accident happening and theres a car out of control, coming straight for you and you reverse to avoid the car and should it hit the next person, is it your fault or how does that work??

As I see it, it's either you or them... no two ways about it....

I did K53 a few months ago.. there's no way i still drive like that.. you more worried about whats going on around you then what your doing.

And lets be serious, who does a 5 point check after everytime they pull there hand brake up :)

I think they need to revise the system.

The monkeys earn enough money from it just like it is.

Soory :p , nope, not your fault then, then its the person driving the rogue car's fault. You will have to be a witness though.

I can't see that being your fault at all. The rogue car is obviously to blame for whatever he hits.

Whoever manages to evade the rogue car and who ends up getting hit by it is all up to the luck of the draw.

The other day, while driving through the good ol' transkei, there was a car coming straight for me after his bonnet got scooped by the wind and smashed into the windscreen, effectively leaving the driver blind. I had a truck next to me but just managed to swerve out the way. If there was a car behind me it would've been hit by the oncoming car. Sure, someone could've been badly hurt, but so could you. I still wouldn't consider it my fault... and neither should you.

True.

I still felt bad when I saw that I could have got a whole family killed.

One of those things I guess...

well im just glad ive done it :)

And i think maybe lots of ppl fail cause they never go for lessons or something.. cause all my friends that have been for lessons have passed :)

though on the guys register thing.. i was the only person he passed that day outta 8 ... so who knows ...

I failed my first time i went. Rolled on the incline start....and for some odd reason even though i've now passed my k-53 i still dread incline starts to the extent that I will avoid them as much as possible.

What scares the living bejeebes out of me is that you get points deducted for not doing ure observations to the sides and rear......though not a single point will ever be taken from you for not looking in front of you. True, you might not pass with that pole that got lodged in ure car but, thats besides the point since u fail there for causing an accident and not for not looking in front of you.

I did take a few lessons from my k-53. Always checking blindspots and the constant checking of my rear mirror to ensure there is no accident waiting to happen behind me and to the sides. Even though i have blindspot mirrors checking is still very very important as sometimes you enter a street at an angle and those mirrors are completely useless since their angle won't show the oncoming cars. Happened to me that I was just checking blindspot mirrors and almost turned into a street with a car heading straight for me. After that scare i've always endeavoured as much as possible to check the manual way.

Though things i wish they learnt you on ure test but prbly would be too advanced for a normal student. Using ure gears to slow down, better clutch control and observation skills to spot an accident thats about to happen(looking out for erratic or dangers).

Congrats on passing :p. Its through our mistakes when we learn the most :D
