Does anyone know of a testing station in gauteng that can do relatively quick bookings? I really need some help! I failed this morning and was told that I was at a disadvantage because I didnt go with my driving school, apparently those candidates are offered "preferencial" treatment...

You might be able to get a relatively quick booking if you go to a testing station in the middle of nowhere. For instance, Springs or Nigel, Vanderbijl park, etc. Wouldn't bother anywhere in Randburg or Sandton.

Remember, that generally, you have to prove that you live in those areas (far away from your normal address)

What 'some' of my friends did was, they got 'proof of residence' from those friends by taking a letter addressed to the friends and then the traffic department calls the friend and they say you are a 'resident' (living there) and they make the booking.

I've heard that they are getting hectic on this, your ID book must say that address too, but this is just a 'rumor' I've heard.

This rumour is rubbish. At least here in the FS it is.
Everyone goes to small towns with no hassles because it means you get a 2-3 wait instead of the 2-3 months here in Bloem.

Dont think they get preferential treatment. They phone the same number as anyone. Why not call the number, and let the tell you when the earliest date is, and where. Sometimes you must call a few days in a row to get an appointment, cause the say they can only do appointments up to a certain date in advance. Number for gauteng is, 0860 4288 364

Not without producing some green.
Not really. I must say you wont get it if someone who thoroughly knows the K53 **** didn't teach you. You'le loose too many points for all the "things you dont do", that you'll never get it. My wife went learnt through a driving school, but on the day she went with her own car, cause the driving school took us for a ride. And she got it first time. But it was practise, practise and practise. You dont remember that K53 stuff without enough practise.

Also not. If you phone the central booking number, which is a must, they'll tell you when and where. You need the booking number they give you over the phone to pay for the appointment. There's no other way around that.

Maybe that is if you stay in Gauteng, and maybe want to get your license in Freestate or wherever. My wife got her license a month ago in Springs, and we stay in Benoni, and no one asked for proof of residence.
