Why do some people think they are so special?.

Every morning, in Table View, people drive on the wrong side of the road to overtake the rest patiently waiting in line (on the correct side). I don't mean just one car overtake, I am referring to morons driving down the wrong side past 20-50 cars. WTF?

EDIT:
I am referring to othe motorists, not bikes or even taxis.

People are arses?

Another thing that pisses me off are motocycles doing exactly the same thing, or driving between lanes just because they can "fit" in or easily tuck in again. Makes me want to force my car through as well. I just cant get myself to push in or drive like a d00s even though I end up making room for cars that push in.

Saw the article in the local tabloids and it shows taxis and busses and cars riding in the wrong lane, can people like that be reported because there is evidence of them breaking the law?

Why...? Because too many fellow road users allow them to by swerving and making space for them.

It's not just Capetonians, though. I experience it in the mornings as well, near Emmarentia dam, but I'll just switch on the brights and hold my course. If I have to come to a stop and park off in my lane for a bit while they jockey to get back into the queue I'll happily do so.

**** 'em.

Its legal for motorcycles to lane split (drive between the cars) and its been discussed a number of times. Can't remember the law exactly but it has to be at certain speed in relation to thr cars speed

Let's keep the bike love/hate for a different thread. ;)

Dress up as a cop one morning and see how much money (bribes) you can make.
Seriously though, write a letter to one of the major newspapers and it will get a lot of attention.

Cool idea, as long as a bona fide officer doesn't see you and stop to chat... then you may have to fork over all the takings :D

I'd like to see the actual law on that one, not because I have an issue with it but because I'm curious.

I've seen people queue behind a bus on the old Molotto road, going much less than the legal speed limit, and with no reason not to pass. In that case I'm fine with passing multiple cars (about 3-5, not 20!), given that you pass on a legal piece of road, and that you can do so very quickly.

I do have an issue with people who simply pass to queue-jump though, where they will end up sitting in the very same queue of cars, going no faster than the rest of us.

Where about's in Table View? Fortunately I leave earlier than traffic - I was shocked when I left late at 6:15 this morning and traffic was already backed up, I turned around and went via Melkbos -> N7

Bikes are allowed to do that dumbass... get over it.

Force your car anywhere and you will find yourself without side mirrors.

People in Cape Town drive like suicidal lunatics, news at 11.

Why does this piss you off? White-lining is completely legal. ;)

When I want to turn left, and theres 20 cars in front of me going straight, I'll drive past them in the emergency lane. Nothing wrong with that.

I also come across these people (read taxi's) overtaking nearly 20+ cars and driving right at me (I'm in the clear lane) forcing me to pull over. This is on Lesley just before Douglass drive in Randburg.

There's almost never any oncoming traffic in the yellow lane, slight difference.

You're probably talking about Gie Road? When I used to stay in Tableview a year ago, I used to overtake a bunch of cars in order to turn right and take a different route to Blouberg Road. Saved me a few minutes when I did it. It was never to jump the que and was only done when there was no oncoming traffic.
