Driving Test Advice

So I've been going for some lessons, did 4 so far and I'm okay with the yard maneuvers. Just need to work on my turns but other than than im doing okay.

I opted for 10 lessons and was told to book after that.

Is there any way to get the exact route the test will be done at? I know the driving school will take me there but i have to pay like a separate amount for that although I'd like an idea before hand of the area.

It will be at the Verulam testing center.

You are overthinking it.

Just drive with integrity and a bit of composure and it will be just fine.

jeepers if you want to practise a round the block trip i am worried

Yeah just practice, I struggled and failed a few times because I'd already been driving "normally" before hand so changing my driving for the K53 way was an issue.

This k53 way is silly to be honest, you also get marked down for simple things. I feel in the real world, you'd have to disregard a few things.

I'm definitely practicing though

It's not that I can't drive, it's more the nerves. I drive fine, but then when you have someone next to you who can pass or fail you, its nerve wrecking. I'm sure we've all been through that in any situation not just driving.

It's silly but it's an idiots guide to safe driving.
No one follows it after the test including me but still I feel it's the right way for a new driver to learn.

They follow a few different routes, chosen at random by the inspector. There's no official route, but each inspector will, by habit, have their preferred route.

Just go practice driving within 3 km of the test center so you are familiar with the area.

I'm thinking of definitely driving more often after my 10 lessons with a licensed driver before actually making a booking. Reason been, I'm able to drive but I want to just practice or do it more often.

Then actually book and then get a refresher lesson in parking and the test route from the driving school I'm currently with.

Lessons are expensive

The yard test in SA is really easy if u follow the step by step instructions given in this video. I used it when I was preparing for my test. It tells u when and how much to turn the wheel too.
My driving instructor taught me exactly the same way as in the video. Just follow the steps blindly and u will be fine.
Many driving schools still use the Toyota Tazz.

You are already overthinking it and too much practice is also a bad thing, if you are comfortable and you think you can do it, go do it. If you fail try again. But practicing a million times will not make it more sure you are going to pass

you need to relax and need more experience then, you are over thinking for sure

Clutch in, keep RPM at 4000. Gently release clutch whilst tyres screetching in first gear. At 6500 RPM take car out of gear to neutral then apply full clutch without releasing accelerator. Snap into second and drop clutch. This should be done in less than 100ms to avoid engine blowup.

No granny shifting here. And NO DOUBLE CLUTCHING.
Changing gears is time spent going nowhere...

I was reading something on k53 and apparently you should pull up your handbrake at every stop, like when you at the stop street etc. Do you have to do that? My instructor didn't tell me too so not sure I guess.

As far as I know that is correct, I was taught that way and did it in the test and passed, so I assume it's correct (that was 10 years ago, not sure if its changed)

I have a question, my car can self park. Can that be used in the test. It's pretty great

I was wondering because it's an automatic car too so not sure, guess I'll have to ask the instructor.
