Dropped BB Torch into toilet

Sigh,I had my earphones plugged in and put torch on top of toilet and was gonna sit down and arm caught the earphone cable and dragged phone into toilet,quickly took it out and took out battery used a leaf blower on it,left it in rice to absorb moisture,red light comes on for about 5 secs,then nothing,so im leaving it in rice for a few days and hoping for the best,the thing is im on mtn contract,have had the contract since 20th march,what do i do if my BB doesnt come on anymore,what are my options,and please only serious replies

hasn't been insured yet,sigh,should of done it immediately but i was waiting for some extra cash
 
Now that would have been a classic you tube video. LOL
 
Take out the battery immediately, wipe it dry and store it in a cool, dry place.

Stick the BB in a container full of rice.

Wait 48 hours before inserting the battery (you don't want to short circuit the BB)!
 
When I got my BB I insured it straight away. Hope you get it sorted out ;)
 
Buy a bag of that crystal kitty litter - it's the same silica gel that you get in those little packets and it will put rice to shame when it comes to absorbing moisture. :)
 
Like i said mickeyD I used the workshops leafblower on it for 15mins straight after i dropped it and after i pulled battery,left it in rice over night tried it once and led comes on for 5secs then nothing so i will leave it over the wkend and hope for the best,just really depressed about it all cause im not sure what happens on mtn contract,i know they wont replace it

You'll be surprised (or not) how many claims insurers get for the cell in the bog. Quite common. Most drop out the top pocket when reaching for the big flush.

Leave it in the rice for a while, try it again on Sunday.

Your battery is also probably flat so put it together again, charge it for about an hour then try turn it on.
 
Sorry to hear that mate. Was gonna make a rubbish joke about that being the best thing you could've done for your Crapberry.. lol... but I'll add some useful advice too.

My HTC Desire also got water-damaged (rain-water on the window sill), and refused to work for almost 1 month. I did the whole rice thing, used a hair-dryer (hot and cold air, but cautiously - don't want things to melt), silica gel packets, etc...

Eventually my phone started working after 2-3 weeks, but just for 1 day. Another week later, it worked, but only for 3 days. By the end of the month it was working non-stop, and boy was I a real happy chappy. I don't have any problems with it now.

So yeah it took a really long time, but in the end I think it just needed lots and lots of time to dry. Remember mines was just rain water. Your's was fully submerged, so it's gonna take a while. Have patience, drop it in some rice / silica gel / both, and forget about it for a while. Try starting it every 4 days or so, or even longer if you can bear it. And cross your fingers that nothing gets fried each time you try.
