Dropped BB Torch into toilet

thanks for the useful posts,as for the jokes,it is a lil funny for a split second i had a smile, but all in all,its a really expensive phone and really depressed about it all, going to leave it in rice until sunday and see if it works,im really hoping that it does, rice has worked for alot of people so hoping im one of them

Probably the worst feeling in the world watching your valuable electronic fall into your kak and pi$$ filled toilet :(

AFAIK water damage voids the warranty, so no luck there. As others said, leave it for a few days to dry. I dropped my curve in the toilet bout a month ago. The first thing I did was pulled the battery out. I then shook all the water out of it (kept shaking until nothing came out anymore). I just stuck it on the window sill (face down) for about an hour. I switched it on and it worked. Like another guy said earlier, try refrain from turning it on until you feel its dry enough

I have stripped phones covers off to help the drying process as well. See if you can find a manual to do this though,

Sorry to hear that man......
sucks Big time

Correct. You also can't con them into thinking it isn't water damange, because they now put water-damage stickers inside the phone, in various places, which turn from white to red when in contact with water.

phoned mtn, they said i should take it to repair center, and they said they will advise on replacement/fixing it,i can see this being a huge bill

Well came into work, tried my dried BB torch, nothing, stripping it and having a looksie inside, mayb clean with some alcohol or something, and if all fails ill take it in to repair center

Sorry to hear about your problems. My 9700 went into the pool back in November last year. It must have been in the pool for about 20 minutes before I noticed it (blew off the sun lounger while I was inside the house).
Didn't even bother doing anything with it, left it in a drawer in my home office and bought a new one the next day. Reason I am tell you this is that this weekend I came across the phone, complete with old battery still inside. I chucked the battery away and grabbed a spare, thinking I would give it a try, just for kicks. Trues nuts, the thing boots up fine. Of course, I tested everything and it all works...bluetooth, wifi, speaker, mic, camera, flash, sd card slot, making and receiving calls...everything...except the p, u, & i buttons refused to work.
I opened it up, peeled back the keypad membrane thingy, cleaned the contact pads for all the buttons, focusing on the problem ones and reassembled. She's back to 100% normal now and there's a spare 9700 in our house now. I am utterly amazed!!
Good luck with yours!

This happened to my father in law, he placed the phone in Rice for a few days, phone was OK but it only went on to live for another 4-5 months before completely dying.

very lucky @Gamer,unfortunately for me i tried everything from rice to rubbing alcohol, too changing batteries,we have 4 bb torches at work so tested with those,so i have resorted in taking it into mtn repair center and playing dumb as too,i dont know what happened,it doesnt boot haha and hoping for the best
