Drugs in drinking water

Nothing new. I remember reading an article a few years backs that trace extracts of Prozac can be found in the drinking water in the UK. Whether it has an effect is debatable. Have you notiiced if the Pommies have been happier in recent years? I doubt it.

Human excrement? EColi bacteria?

We get our drinking water from the Vaal river system.

The e-coli in the water was tested in the millions per 100 ml, last week.

This latest test was conducted by the Department of water affairs and Forrestry.

The tap water was also tested.

E-coli was also found in the tap water after it was purified by the municipality.

The amount of chlorine needed to kill the e-coli was so much that the tapwater became dangerous to drink.

At the moment we are between a rock and a hard place.

We have been buying bottled water for 6 years.

Apparently money was set aside to alliviate the problem. It will take another 5 to 6 years to fix.

There is so much chlorine in our water nothing could possibly survive. In the shower you're in danger of being overcome by the fumes :D

I went in the shower black, and I came out white. Something is amiss

Which is why the chlorine levels are dangerously high when the water leaves the plant. By the time it hits the taps its OK again.

Those that are stressed about this must just organize themselves one of those UV light based filters. Or just boil the freakin' water (Ouch eskom bill).

Chlorine causes cancer.

Who wants to live forever anyway?

It would also be stupid dying healthy!:D

Sa Water is some of the highest quality water in the world.

I seriously doubt the claims of eColi in drinking water....I will believe that when you show me an official published test/report.

I have seen actual water test results which show Durban water is 100% fine
