Druid PVP/PVE.

No no meant moonkin. Most of my guildies are against bear tanking - since they cant block or parry. Just thought moonkins can tank a bit since they can parry (not sure) and they can drink potions without shifting to caster form.

The potion im talking about is the stoneshield potion. 2k extra armor (8k armor in moonkin form). only prop about moonkin is that it cant get enough aggro, righ? i saw a few posts about moonkin tanking a few months ago, just want to know how you guys feel.

I won't recommend it. As far as I can understand, Moonkin tanking was possible in TBC but I beleive it was more of an oddity rather than widely used.

However, the armor mechanics changed in WotLK which make Moonkin tanking difficult, if not impossible. In TBC, armor from cloaks, rings, amulets and trinkets were also multiplied by the modifier when druids shifted. That changed that only leather and cloth armor (except cloaks) multiply when shifting. To counteract the change, the Survival of the Fittest talent was changed to add bonus armor as well when changing to bear. It was originally 66% extra but it was changed to 33% extra now.

SotF is mid Feral and the armor bonus is only for Bear and Dire Bear, thus your armor in Moonkin form will never be really enough for it. On my feral spec the difference that SotF gives is over 5K, and that is with the lvl78 LW set. With decent raid gear, the difference will be a lot bigger.

Another thing that changed is that Dire bears do have a type of block now. At lvl40, you get Savage Defense, which gives you a shield equal to 25% of your AP evertime you crit in Dire bear.

lolwhut?

Have any of your guildies ever run with a good bear tank? We may not be able to block or parry but with enough +sta +agi and armor we are on par with other tanks. Who needs to block or parry when you have close to 50% dodge :)
Pots can also be used now while in bear form so no more shifting out of form to pot.

The only problem with druid tanks, imo, is our poor magical-damage mitigation.
And our HP nerf etc...
We can main tank just as well as any other class and aoe tanking is much easier with the new swipe mechanics.
As far as moonkin tanking goes, i have never heard of it before, and would have paid to see a moonkin tank kara :P
Its nowhere near possible now, but you could always try xD
Stick to the bear for tanking, its a lot safer :)

I would love to tank, just need to convince the guildies to play along... If i do decide to tank i need to focus on stam and agility right? maybe when im bored one day ill tank a heroic as moonkin ^ ^

Unless with guildies, I do not think anyone will allow you to tank a HC in Boomkin form.

I use Moonkin primarily for farming skins and dailys. My favs are those Mammoths in Stormpeaks as they make such a delicious pile of dead meat .... (Now you know what caused their extinction ... ;) )
