Any advice on how to treat dry scalp? I've tried different shampoos, oils etc but nothing helps.

The only thing that helps me is washing my hair with dove soap

Saw another thread where Denorex wasn't available any longer and that's true - cannot find it.

Gill isn't what it used to be either

Head&Shoulders is useless.

Aren't those shampoos more for dandruff rather than dry scalp

I use a baby cream like epimax or the like.. works well.. in my case I trim my hair all the way down to number 1 on the clippers, so it's not an issue getting the cream to my scalp..

I have worked through all the available shampoos from the retail stores, to the pharmacy.. none of them make a bit of difference..

Vichy Dercos range worked for me for years, from Italy and was at Dischem.
But TBH, seems to be an individual thing as well, and can change.

These days, cheap "Organics" for normal hair (P'nP etc.) works fine for some reason.

The products are drying your scalp. If you cut them out your scalp will over produce sebum until it stabilises. Wait it out and allow your skin to recalibrate to its natural state while washing as little as what you can.

Counterpoint: I have a friend who is a stylist and she swears by Head and Shoulders. Have you tried it already?

Are you blow drying your hair?

I drip dry with my medium beard and long hair and then I work in a real good moisturizer butter/cream into the hair not forgetting to actually massage the skin and root of the hair. You problem is probably blow drying and never touching the actual skin, if the skin never get touched and worked you will end up with dry patches for your head as well as the skin under your beard. Even so I do once a week amla gold hair oil for both my beard and my hair. Also how many times a week do you actually wash your hair; see #10

Have you tried an actual dermatologist?

110%

Dry scalp is caused by insufficient water intake (coke, tea, alcohol, sugary drinks etc actually causes you to lose water), and a lack of good fats in your diet. Treat it at the root of the problem instead of using shampoos/products.

Mirra-cote. The dog has it for his shiny coat, then I also started using it and never looked back.

Nope and nope. Thought I'd try a home remedy instead.
