DSL - Another 'What to get'

im doing a whole new 2nd phone line and adsl and i got a estimate of about 2 weeks
 
In Richards bay it takes a few hours. Once the line is installed just go to the telkom office and ask them again to enable the ADSL service.....somtimes on a new installation its done automatically.....just plug in the modem...and SYNC!
 
Yeh...going to have too... Telkscum arn't much of a help.

Is it possible to change plans, etc with telkom after everythings up and running...

its all a bit confusing at the moment.

I'm sure you can. I haven't personally done this though, so perhaps it would be better if someone else answers, or you could even call 10215/9 and ask them.

Options to look at for your DSL router:

Perhaps try the Hardware and Software, Member Request Forum and ask for quotes on a DSL router.

Otherwise this is what Incredible Corruption has on offer.

EDIT v1.50: Here's a thread with some good links to various sites, they're not relating specifically to DSL modems, but the sites that are made mention of should carry the stock. Very informative responses as to service, etc.

I've finally tweaked my internet and what I would recommend is

4mb line
openweb ISB 5GB Fibre
 
Quick question, do I need a microfilter between the ADSL router and the line?
 
Ok... this is annoying, got a friend to loan me his NetGear DG834PN Wireless Broadband Router.

I plugged in the lan cable, connected it, username and password, etc.

Now all I get is this:
Initialize LCP
LCP is allowed to come up.
Initialize LCP
LCP is allowed to come up.
Initialize LCP
LCP is allowed to come up.

Plugged a phone into the line, and there is a dial tone? Anyone have any idea where to start?

Under ADSL Settings I have the following
Multiplexing Method: LLC-Based (Alternative is VC-Based.
VPI: 0
VCI: 38
No clue what it should be.
 
well, I have no idea if wireless is different but that VPI: 0 looks wrong ..... didn't you get login details or help from an ISP?
