Enter the username and password and leave the rest of it.
IIRC xrapidx you're doing self-install - if yes - you'll need to go to the following link:
http://www.telkom.co.za/verifyadsl and then enter your telephone number and order/reference number.
Once that is done wait about 15-30mins, sometimes an hour and you should be set
I was lucky with my self-install that it synched immediately.
Good luck!
Oh and won't you be joining us this Thursday for the MyBB meet at the Waterfront this Thursday evening xrapidx? Just click on the link in my sig for more detailsDon't recall seeing you in that thread - I may be wrong

Does this need to be done on the ADSL line? Or from another line?
Can't see how it can be done from the ADSL line cause I'm not getting an IP address?
Setup/Config
This is a simple guide to setting up your adsl modem. Every different modem brand has their own admin control panel but with knowing a few basic settings you can setup any adsl modem to work.
If you get stuck any where refer to your adsl modems manual
Step1
Firstly access your modems control panel by typing the default IP address into your browsers address bar.
Note:
Refer to your manual for default IP address.
Your modem might be on a different IP range if someone before you set it up.
The computers network has to be in the same IP range as that of the modem to access it. Dont know what this means? Click here
Step 2
Login using the default username and password which can be found in your manual.
Step 3 (Wizard Setup)
Some modems start up with a setup wizard to help you configure your router.
These are the details that need to be set (in no particular order):
Encapsulatio: "PPPoE LLC" or "PPP over ethernet"
Under ATM
VPI: 8
VCI: 35
MTU: 1492
Bridge: Disabled (optional)
Username: "Your adsl account username given to you by your ISP"
Password: "Your adsl account password given to you by your ISP"
Thats all you need to fill in, leave the rest as they are. (defaults)
Note:
Dont forget to save the settings to memory.
Many Routers require you to "Save settings and reboot"
This is the same router I've got, here are the settings you need:
BASIC SETTINGS:
Does Your Internet Connection Require A Login: Yes
Encapsulation: PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet)
Login: Your Username
Password: Your Password
Service Name: TelkomSA (you might be able to leave this blank)
Domain Name Server (DNS) Address: Get Automatically From ISP
ADSL SETTINGS:
Multiplexing Method: LLC-BASED
VPI: 8
VCI: 35
That should be all you need to ensure is set up, then just Apply for each option and restart the router, it should then proceed to connect. Have fun.
Fixed... two issues the '..over ethernet'
...and my gf gave me the password in all caps.
