So I got home today and phoned Telkom as usual and in about half an hour my line was working. I dunno what I did or anything. I'm so happy, I think I might be dreaming though. Someone pinch me..?

It really is absurd that telkom "doing their job" causes parties and cheers on myadsl - that's how sad and sick this situation is.

Happy for You RaD!!

Same thing happened to me.
I got a new 384k line installed about 3 weeks ago which didnt work from day 1.

So I log a call...

And 1 week goes by. (Telkom upgraded my fault log to URGENT twice mind you. Amazing. Was it super urgent then?)

Then, as if by magic, my link started working. No call from Telscum to confirm that I am happy or nothin'.

It did go down again for a few minutes a while ago, but so far it seems okay.

You know, its funny, I live 200 metres away from the exchange. I drive by it many times and often I see between 3 and 6 Telscum bakkies parked infront of the place. WHAT on earth are they all doing in there? LOL

I know, I see Telscum bakkies everywhere, but they never seem to be going anywhere.

Yes, there are two permanently sitting outside our block of flats but they sure arent fixing our crossed lines! Whenever i pick up the phone i can hear the guy opposite's phone conversations clearer than my own!

We even have the same number apparently, which is a tad odd. But i dont really care, i may as well not have a landline for the amount of use it gets from me. Use it to spend hours on hold to Telkom usually, which is always fun :p

I have a friend who used to be a Telkom techie. Quite a senior one too. And from talking to him, it seems like half the time you see Telkom vehicles driving around, it isn't on Telkom business. All the techies who are worth anything have other sideline jobs that they do during working hours! And the worst of it all is, these are the only techies who actually ever get anything done. The ones who drive around "doing only their jobs" tend to be the ones who cause more problems than they solve, and you end up having one of the "part time techies" coming around to fix whatever was broken by the other techies. It is a nightmare, actually...
