Scenario:
Rural subscriber is out of range of DSL coverage, but his friend in town has DSL access,
so he connects via his own Wireless connection or WUG to town.

Pros: Dedicated DSL Router (384k or 4Mb bandwidth) with your own ADSL account
Cons: Legality of using your own wireless network or a WUG as there is no monthly costs for the last mile.

1)Setup DSL Router in Bridge Mode
Setup Wireless Client PPoE Client (with ADSL account names for local & International accounts)

OR

2)Setup DSL Router in Router Mode (with ADSL account names for local & International accounts)
Setup DSL Router as the gateway on the remote side

Why not use the small local WiSP ?
They utilise over subscribed Business DSL lines.
Possibility will be to install a DSL line at the local WiSP PoP is an idea.

Good idea or bad idea
Will it work

Well legality aside, it'll work. But you'll get major latency.

What about wimax?

Wimax - will be a problem in the smaller rural areas ?
The larger towns like George do have it but they are also covered by WiSP.

If you look at the town of Laingsburg in the Karoo, that have DSL but poor rural Telkom infrastructure, dialup not possible due to noisy rural subscriber wire based carrier phone systems, so farmers have to resort to Telkom VSAT at R1700 pm with a 2 or 3 Gb cap, now with cheaper Afrihost DSL prices, they could save a bundle once a wireless system is up.

Its all an idea - pie in the sky
