DSL users to move to WiMax

whats the latency's like on Wimax as I use my adsl for games and if its going to suck then it looks like I am staying on cable.

strangely no one mentioned cost.... because with telkom in the pipe it doesn't matter much.

WiMAX works - and quite nicely too when the network has been built properly. The problem is that it does not live up to the marketing hype that is being churned out by various marketing people.

It is ideally suited to providing internet access to areas that cannot be covered by wired networks and it also provides a very quick setup time (like most other wireless technologies) that cannot be achieved by fixed line operators - even the ones who aren't as incompetent at Telkom.

Technical speaking WiMAX has a number of features both on its air interface and within its traffic management specs that make it better than most of the other wireless technologies out there. That said - wireless technology will never be able to outperform a wireline technology. This is simply due to the laws of physics.

I'll move to WiMAX if the price is right and the Cap is right.
I'm not at all bothered by not having 400kb a sec, just so long I have ± 200kb a sec.

Cap (for my downloads) and overall speed/latency (for games) is what matters to me.
