DStv billing problems - MultiChoice explains

TBH, this was the response I expected from MC, pity its taken a few days longer than it should have.

Thank goodness I no longer subscribe to DSTV, or pay via debit orders

Check your bank statement anyway, there were reports of debit orders against DSTV accounts cancelled years ago.

No big deal but when I cancelled early this year there was a small credit left on my account.

Can't see my account on the new system they've implemented so I assume the credit has been written off in their favour and hopefully not been applied because the account was reinstated.

Fortunately I used to pay by EFT so I don't have to worry about debit orders.

i am actually surprised they gave comment, but there wasn't enough details. what exactly happened moving to the new management system that resulted in this?

seems like someone dropped a database/table and restored an old one hoping nobody would notice.. friend of mine hasn't had DSTV in over a year and they debited his account.

Why would they reveal this information?

I've never seen a company publicly reveal the details of a mistake with systems in any great detail.

Mistakes happen people... chill the **** out!

Stealing money from clients is not something to "chill the **** out" about. This is money people did not budget to be deducted from their accounts.

so true, I am sure there are people with unpaid debit orders due to this and even ITC listings, but hey they said sorry

Well, it took me 3 months, several phone calls and two visit to their offices to get my debit order fixed earlier this year.

Our debit order was correct, but we were upgraded automatically with the HD channels this month.

Ummm the HD Channels are free for everyone if the channel is broadcast in HD and you have an HD capable decoder.
