Precisely what I was thinking. It's because, like everythingthing else in SA, the consumer is forced to pay a premium for **** we don't want or need.
If you take the DSTV Premium package - R 499.00 and it offers you 87 channels (65 of which are crap) - that works out to R 5.73 per channel. I would happily pay R15 to R20 a channel if I was able to choose what channels I wanted, without any minimum number, or bundled crap with it. I have never had DSTV and never will bother with it until they offer me the freedom I want.
Besides - I download and watch what I want, when I want off the net. And I get it long before it ever airs on DSTV.
Do the math and you'll find you are paying R22 for the channels you don't think are crap.
