Good news about Commonwealth Games broadcasts on DStv

In a last-minute announcement that had several subscribers worried about whether it had secured rights to the event, DStv's SuperSport has confirmed it will broadcast the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The news comes on the day of the opening ceremony of the popular multi-sport event, which is taking place in a streamlined 10-day format in Glasgow, Scotland, this year.

The public broadcaster [SABC] is not covering all of the events; it is focusing specifically on the sports where the 112 athletes from Team SA are competing.

SuperSport has been providing comprehensive coverage of the Games since at least 2010, and many might have assumed it would be no different this time.

However, MultiChoice’s decision not to secure rights to the 2026 Winter Olympics showed that DStv customers may no longer be able to accept this as a given.

Last-minute announcements on broadcasting or channel rights at SuperSport or MultiChoice have mostly only occurred when rights negotiations were proving challenging.

In March 2023, SuperSport only announced it had secured the rights to the Indian Premier League two hours before the tournament began.

I don't think MC or SS care much about this, just doing it 'cos they have to. Even https://supersport.com/commonwealthGames is still blank, just has links to other news.
And using all the available channels shouts of a lack of planning.

Best bet is to do a decoder / app search for Glasgow or similar, and try compile it that way.
