DStv cuts Explora decoder prices

Other shops have been selling it on special (almost permanently) in the region of that price?

Korrekt. So one would expect the other retailers to start approaching R1k with their specials....

And it probably costs R400 to make.

No actually in the region of R3000 to make, even tho i hate them i have to say they do sell the explora below cost but make their money back on the subs we pay each month.

Can't imagine why that thing is gigantic and probably running dated tech under hood

What drive is inside, 2TB? That is R1k minimum on its own...

+1 exactly as is the norm with printer manufacturers making their money with the ink. The other day I actually read that this business model was thought out and started in the 1920's by Gillette, as in the Razor oak.

Are they normal drives ? Are you planning to build a NAS with 10 explora's :p

In the old silver dual view PVR it was a standard drive as I had to de dust mine inside when the fan started becoming very vocal. The smaller 2P record 1 HD PVR has a 2.5 SATA in it.

Looks like the Explora has a 2TB.

For some or other reason dstv wants everyone to have one, my tv repair friend tell me they are badly build.

Please feel free to get as many as you want.
Support the industry please.
We need the money...
