DStv cuts ITV Choice channel

MultiChoice has confirmed that it will cut British pay-TV channel ITV Choice from its DStv platform.

The company said that DStv will no longer air ITV Choice on DStv effective from 4 June 2020. The change will be implemented across Africa.

Maybe this is a sign that britbox will launch here
It probably won't anytime soon but one can be hopefull

SS is no longer generating cash (as they were); cuts like this might occur more frequently

Screw Britbox. BBC iPlayer should roll out internationally. It's absurd that it hasn't already considering that it's almost all original BBC and ITV content. And the logistics would be trivially easy: £9.99 per month or free if you can link an active UK TV license.

BBC iPlayer is BBC and ITV?

They're two directly competing networks and iTV has it's own player called iTV Hub.
When I last used iPlayer, which was only a few months ago, a huge amount (presumably all) ITV content was present. Either they have a content sharing deal between one another or they used to.

Perhaps you were using something other than BBC's iPlayer? Even when the two networks shared sporting events like the RWC they used their own sites/apps.

Nope. BBC iPlayer web app, and you could even see the BBC or ITV logo next to each video title. BBC stuff played fine with a VPN, and I had to link my step-dad's UK TV license for ITV to work.

Why not use a VPN?

Because it's mostly for my parents and maintaining it remotely is a mission. Would love it to just be available properly.
A smart DNS service just needs to be set up on the router and then they're sorted.
