Hi All

I have my fathers previous dstv decoder dsd 910 that I would like to connect to our satelite dish and subscribe to the easyview package dstv offers.

What do i need to do - everyone says you need letters, id etc etc.

I dont know sometimes you need to get it migrated to your name but when I first got DSTV i just told them its my dads old decoder and they activated it for me. so phone them and see what they say.

You need to take the decoder and throw it away if you're gonna use it for EasyView.

But yes. Get a copy of his ID and a paper where he states that he sold you the decoder. And make sure he signs both papers.

easyview?? you mean xtraview, and as blix said, throw it away, you need the latest 1110 decoder to do that.

Nope, I mean easyview - get really *** signal with an aerial sometimes and I have tried new aerials.
Dont watch much SABC, ETV but I would like it to be perfect.

He means Easyview.

hmmm...i see, might be worth it as a temporary solution whilst I decide on whether to make to full splash into DSTV

I have been a happy user of EasyView for the last 3 months. Firstly, you get MNET open time from 6pm-7pm like the old days. So the woman in your house can watch Egoli and Binnelanders, but on saturdays, you see sport. So this week saturday, I'll get the 2nd half of the Sharks/WP game and next week, I'll get the Bulls game.

Not bad for 20 a month. If you have kids, 112 is KTV in the mornings till about 14:30. You also get SA idols and SA survivor when its on and Big Brother.

Also, at least 1 weekend a month, you get full dstv, although last month, we only got it from the Saturday night until about Tuesday night. Then you get botswana tv which shows live soccer in English - none of that laduma style presentation and when its english premier league, you get to see 1 game on the saturday and maybe one on the monday.

Not bad for those who don't want to pay a full subscription to them.

Connected to my vhf and uhf aerial - etv is the only one with stereo, SABC 1,2,3 m net all mono?
Notice the difference right away when channels are changed, etv has the best sound.
That's why I want to go the dstv decoder route - get clearer channels and stereo hopefully.
No composite connectors on delta 9000 decoders :(
Surely the new digital m net decoders will have the upgraded outputs?

eish, :erm:not sure if i could handle only seeing half the game

For R20 a month, seeing the second half of 4 rugga games a month isn't bad. The next best option to see rugby is on a mnet decoder at R270 a month - not worth it, but then Hemps still can't watch.

Open weekends? Did you paste the text from the DStv website? If so that is quite interesting.
I know that once every 30 to 40 days all DStv channels are unencrypted for up to 3 days, including the Indian and German crap. This can happen on any day(s) of the week. It happened last Tuesday I recall. No need for even an Easyview sub.

You need an Easyview sub at the least. We have 2 decoders, the one is off and we use that for the FTA channels but that doesn't pick up the extra channels when it is on for those 3-7 days a month. The easyview is the only decoder that picks up all the channels.

Sounds like Easyview is a clever marketing ploy! Plus it will make it more difficult for future players like ODM to compete if viewers already have Multichoice decoders.

When I still used my hifi-stereo VCR and terrestrial antenna in 2002 the channels in Nicam Stereo were SABC 1, SABC 2 and E-tv. Sounded pretty decent connected to a Pro-Logic amp.

Actually the MJ memorial is live on Free to View France24 right now.
No subscription to anything needed.

Ku band on Pas7/10 68.5 degrees East (ie same as dstv so you don't have to change dish angle)
Any old dstv decoder will do useing "public boquet".

Frequency 11674
5/6 Vertical
Frame rate 26652
DVB no encryption.

[edit] why did "Jackson memorial on Facebook-MySpace" on the news page get directed here
