DSTV Drifta

Drifta Antenna broken?

I have noticed that my Drifta's antenna is very thin at the bottom when extended.
(about 1 mm diameter)

Is this normal, or is mine broken?

If you have a jailbroken idevice, don't update to the latest DSTV Mobile from the Appstore. They have implemented a check to see if your device is jailbroken, and if it is, the app won't launch. This was probably done because of this post over on the dstv forum:

What I'm wondering is what the monthly costs are going to be after March 2011

R36 a month ... unless you have a DSTv premium subscription, in which case it will be included with that monthly fee.

Of course, there are going to be a lot of people around with premium subscriptions who will not have Drifta's ... just find one of those and get your Drifta linked to their accounts :D

See there's a software upgrade for the Drifta. No noticeable differences in the newer version as far as I can tell.

Know what the issues were? I've been running it on two Windows 7 machines with no hassles so far.

thats good to hear, i have only seen complaints on the dstvmobile forum, but then again there are some real clowns out there who have no clue what they are doing so the problems are most likely "between the keyboard and the chair", and no I have no idea what the issues were, or if there were even any.

Anyone know where I can get the previous version of the app for a jailbroken ipad... :-)

Jerry, Martin, or anyone else, do you know where or how I can get the older version which will allow me to use it on my jailbroken iPhone?

What firmware on iOS are u guys on? Is there any1 on 4.2.1 with a jailbroken iPhone who can confirm if the dstv drifter app works. I think that apple removed the jailbreak detection in 4.2.1. If so there should be an untethered jailbreak very soon which would resolve this issue.

An untethered jailbreak won't resolve the issue. Apple only took the function out of the latest SDK. Until Multichoice recompiles the app with the new SDK without the check, it will still not launch on jailbroken devices.
