DSTV experts, please help me with these multiple issues.

Long story short, we and DSTV/Showmax cant get showmax to work. Our connection is fine and we get all the green ticks on the connectivity tool.

Pausing and rewinding of live TV doesnt work, but we can with recorded shows. (on live tv the icon in the corner is frozen with the "time".

Showmax doesnt work, gives the following error:



Showmax works fine on other devices, have logged out then back in so many times.

Catchup plus doesnt even open, didnt even know this was a thing when you double press the catchup button on the remote.

While in catchup if i press Alt it comes up wih a message saying.

I'm no expert but has MC disabled & enabled the PVR function on their side? Could this problem be related to the decoder (hardware)?

Have you tried a factory reset of the decoder? Maybe that will help.

Fixed it, decided to factory reset + format hard drive.


I think the showmax partition got corrupt or something.

Typical IT solution, just reset to defaults plus a format. That solves everything. Of course, it does. BUT that means the actual reason for the fault is now lost plus all your recordings.
In this case, there was a simple authentication solution with a simple service reset available.
to fix.
