DStv Explora 3 - New decoder to replace the Explora 2

No. Although I am sure if someone was to try, they would crack the problem. It is just no one seems to be interested in trying, or they have and are just keeping it to themselves.
the problem with it is the drive has some special files/encryption on it. ive ghosted a drive over to a larger one successfully on previous models, not sure about the current one.

lol looks like a weird attempt to compete with media boxes.

I thought DSTV went bang and closed years ago. DSTV subscribers don't have a clue what they are missing! How many years before they catchup with the rest of us and save a small fortune every month?

We're not poor like you.

:D

My old pvr can record 2 programmers whilst watching another. Anybody know if this one can do this?
No, the new decoders are all, view 1, record 1 only.
Which version of the view 1, record 2 decoder do you have? The silver UEC or the Pace black?

Yeah, they're missing out on life while they stare in shock and disbelief at their monthly invoice from Monochoice. Anyway, there are billions of far better things to do other than watch TV.

The lack of RF port is catching many people off guard as it is not highlighted at all - even when they purchase the decoder. Typically MC they do not want to mention anything that might be considered by some as a downgrade. People buy the Explora 3 thinking they can just unplug their older decoder and plug this one in (without any additional purchases or expenses) and everything will work - which is not the case for those making use of RF for signal distribution.

Thanks, Geoff.D, its got a silver surround on the front face.

That is the HD PVR 4U, manufactured by UEC, no longer supported by MC at all. Is it insured? If it breaks, you won't be able to get it replaced, even with another Pace version, unfortunately.
That means downgrading your MC experience quite drastically. Hang on to it until it konks out.

The replacement Involves getting at least two Explora 2A's if you can still get them. Or 2 3A's which have no RF distribution capability.

The Explora 3A doesn't have all the features like the older Explora 1A and 2A. Can DStv give a full breakdown of all the features per decoder? I won't buy it and some of my friends returned their 3A decoders.
In short don't buy it. It is an inferior product.

Trying to make up for loss of revenue with selling a substandard product at a price of an old one and forcing people to replace it. More revenue for them.

Sorry boys... I aint changing my decoders .I..

Cheap and nasty! If only they would realise that they are bleeding subscribers and do something to reduce their subscriptions. I cancelled my subscription a while ago after being a subscriber since the launch of M-Net. No reward for being a loyal subscriber???
