DStv Explora features

I'll wait till they have sorted out all the glitches in about a year or till they activate the usb.

How much would you expect to pay for a HDPVR with a 2TB HDD?

TBH, If MC had a clue... I would expect it to be free with a 2 year contract or something of that nature...

They would probably be able to increase their subscriber base if they did things like that...

Just one question. I saw some pics of the back of this thing on the dstv forums, it is dual lnb like the 2P?

its uses a "switch" type device, there is only 1 input into the device, but your switch will need 2 inputs from your LNB

Thanks, and this switch is provided with the decoder? I wonder if the old single lnb trick we use for the 2P will work with this one.

The switch is provided, I haven't tried it, burin doubt it would, the unit effectively has 3 tuners

Loving mine. Far faster than previous models. The interface, although taking getting used to, is great. The catch-up is awesome compared to the meager offering previously; the remote is much, much better (one example being the ffwd and RWd functions are actual buttons and not that putrid and frustrating little thumb-stick).

And as for the price, just go look what a standalone 2TB hard drive will cost. So far an awesome bit of kit.

I asked on the DStv forums if they would contact Logitech to have the Explora added to the Harmony database, or provide me with the needed codes then I will contact them, hope they respond.

I'm using my Logitech Harmony 900 in place of my Explora remote. Just use the "learn IR" feature in the Harmony software. You have to "teach" it all the buttons - takes about 10-15m to setup - but well worth it. Use the "Learn RAW" option under the "Custom" sub-menu.

I replaced my PVR remote years ago to the Ellies buttoned version.
The DSTV remote broke early on.
Those push buttons are 10x better.

I'm just going to wait for the Explora to be added to the Harmony database, I already tried the learn raw thing on the same day, and it seems to be hit and miss for me.

The first time I added the remote only some buttons worked, then I started again from scratch and another set of buttons worked, no matter how many times I teach it, the keys that don't work won't work.
