Since you can now connect 3 decoders in extra view...

How would the cabling from an Explora (main decoder) + HD PVR (currently linked with heartbeat) + single HD Decoder (planning to add) work?

Do both decoders get their heartbeat from the main deocder (Explora) or can I connect the single view decoder to the HDPVR to get it's heartbeat from there?

If so, how would the cabling work? Which ports do I use?

Help much appreciated.

Nope you cannot do that.

(1) The 3-decoder XV option is only available IF you connect Explora decoders or the new single view HD decoder models 4U/4S.

(2) For older decoders, you can only connect 2 decoder in XV, even if one of them is an Explora

Aah. Thanks.

So lets say I buy another Explora + single view HD...

What would the cabling look like then? Does the 2nd Explora and the SVHD both get their heartbeat from the main Explora or can the SVHD get it's heartbeat from the 2nd Explora?

Can you just use a splitter in the heartbeat cable from the main Explora?

There are two ways apparently. As usual MC have not made anything available to the public. Their accredited installers have apparently been "trained". However, I have spoken to 3 in my area and none of them know anything about the new setup.

Option1: Existing HB setup via RF with older decoders:

You can "split/combine two or three decoders with a splitter with or without DC pass depending on if you use tvLINK eyes or not. You can use a simple t piece as well ahead of a SLX type splitter if you have that already in place. then it is simply configuration on the decoders.

Option 2: This is the one apparently favoured by MC ----

Use a SLNB. 2 models now available, LMX 500 ( 4 Unicable + 2 legacy), or the new one LMX 501 ( 3 Unicable + 1 legacy)

Connect all decoders in the mix to the Unicable ports ( the facility does not allow the legacy port to be used for HB)

Have to install a Diplexer behind each decoder, connected to the LNB input and to one of the RF ports on the decoders.

If you want more info, send me a PM and I will end you what I have on what has been found to work.
