Hi all!

What is the difference between these 2 decoders and which one would you recommend?

The P2 only requires 2 cables from the LNB whereas the original one needs 4 cables if you don't use multiswitches.

Thanx. As I understand it the P2 is cheaper...? I also read somewhere that, on the P2, you cannot use the "record series" function and also can only record one channel at a time... From the DSTV website I cannot get clarity on this though...

The thing is, Game has a sale on the P2 this week, but if in the end it's not as good as the other (first released) decoder, I'll rather not have it...

That article is outdated

The only functional difference is that the 2P can record 1 show at a time, the 4 tuners can record 2 at a time
DSTV on Demand & Series recordings are on both
You will struggle to find anywhere still selling the 4 tuner models
I would definitely recommend the 2P

The 2P's RRP is R1500 now, you might find it for R1400 in some places

Correct 2P watch one channel record a 2nd, HD PVR watch one channel record 2 more!!

If you have a DVD/HDD recorder, VCR or PC TV capture card, you can also record the "viewing" channel on the P2 (whilst the second channel records as well) works well for those times you need to record two channels with the P2... ;)

I also got it for R1299. But starting to think I shud just pay for installation coz Twin LNB costs R450 and multiswitch costs R350... Isnt that almost the price of a new installation with dish and everything included?
