At my flat, I currently have a port available that can be activated and we can get DSTV on that. The problem is that the port is in the kitchen and I want the TV's to be set up in the rooms. Would it be best to run the cables through the roof or an alternative, or is there some way this can be done without the running of the cables? I doubt it, cause the decoder has to be connected to the TV (or so I understand).

Another question is, if I want to get two DSTV Explora decoders with Extraview linking the decoders, I was told that i need a splitter box? Would that work to successfully allows the two Explora decoders to work with each other or do I need an Explora with a Single HD decoder?

It depends on your setup, without giving us proper information with regards to your "Dstv port" reliable info cannot be provided. You need to get in touch with the people who set up the satellite connection to your flat and find out what type of Port it is and the decoders that can work of it as well as decoder settings. Only then can we help.

I was just told that the port is compatible with DSTV Explora. That was the only information I received about it, but it is to my knowledge that there are two ports available to run two separate DSTV subscriptions, but I only need to run one.

Well then you just need to plug the decoders in and get the appropriate configuration settings from the maintenance guys or body corporate. You then put the settings into the explora and you should be good to go.
